I unfortunately found two ticks attached to me. Never got the bulls eye rash back then. However I now get a lovely red rash off and on in the middle of my back.
I made a huge mistake not thinking to save the ticks and have them tested, I just removed and destroyed them. My GP tested me for Lyme( was negative and wouldn't even give me doxy. A Year and half later lucky me, Neuro Lyme and co.
I wish I knew then, what I know now. I would have started self treating.
I have lived in western Massachusetts in a rural area my entire life and never really saw ticks until around 25 years ago. I maybe encountered one or two a year. Now there is a massive amount of them in our area. We do have an abundance of wildlife here. Just have to add that I was lucky this morning to see a mama bear and her two cubs. It was awesome.
I also use a preventative on our dog, but that wont stop a tick from brushing off of him or crawling off him and then onto us. So please check yourself and your pets after being outside.
