Do you remember?

Who remembers being bit by a tick? Who had a "classic" bullseye rash?

I remember my bite some 24 years ago. I do not remember a rash at all. I also do not remember ever getting sick after the bite?

I did not feel the tick on me or see it. I saw the bite mark and it was a bull's eye. It did not itch nor was it painful.

I did not get sick immediately after the bite.

I was bit several times as a child. Never got a rash, never got sick. However, I am not completely convinced I've had this since childhood. I was a really healthy kid. I never really started showing symptoms until I was 43. I think it's possible that I was infected on a trip back to PA in October of 2015.

I have never seen a tick where I live now, not even on the dog. She's white with short fur, so they would be relatively easy to spot. I've lived here since 1990. I'm not saying they don't exist here, but I don't think they are very prevalent. So I don't think I was infected here.

I grew up in suburban Philadelphia. Our house was bordered by woods and a park. Back then, we were all sort of free-range, so I spent my childhood playing outside in those woods, rolling down hills, etc. So, yeah, I was bitten by ticks sometimes. But like I said, never sick. My family is still there, so I go back at once/twice a year. A lot of those times, we go hiking in a state park.

So is it possible that I was infected as a child? Yes. But I think it's also possible that I was infected later. On our trip in Oct. 2015, I wasn't feeling awesome when we went. Just a cough, but nothing major at all. Had been fighting it for a couple weeks,s but was getting better. Went hiking while we were there. Two days later, I felt very flu-like and knew I had a fever (no thermometer to check). Felt a little better in a couple days. Saw a doctor when I got home, and he gave me a Z pack and some steroids. He thought I had a respiratory infection. Felt 100% in a few days, finished my meds and all was good until April when I started showing symptoms. The rest is history. So I also think it's possible that I was infected on this trip in October 2015.

We'll never know.

I grew up in the woods and always played outside. I remember pulling ticks off of me constantly. Its just the normal thing where I live- ticks arnt a big deal. I do not remember a bullseye rash, but last summer I remember a tiny tick on my calf that bruised and had a little rash around it. I keep trying to recall if I had the telltale symptoms after, but I cant remember. I have been going downhill since late last year (after this bite) but I have been having problems years before this, so I am wondering if this tick reactivated something in me.

I grew up in a rural area, always hunting or fishing and playing sports. Never recall being bitten by a tick back then, but pulled many off my dogs.

I did pull a very small nymph off my groin in late June 2005. It was very small and felt like a small scab to the touch. Within a week I developed the classic EM rash, saw my PCP and got 30 days doxy at only 200 mg. Felt fine until spring of 2008 when neuro issues became out of control. Maybe I just ignored the early signs and wrote them off to getting old.

I have positively been PLAGUED with ticks since moving to the country 35 years ago. My ignorance of the danger was pathetic. It wavered between annoyance and false reassurance that I was far enough away from the Rocky Mountains to be worried. I had never heard of Lyme or anything else.

I don't remember getting a bulls eye rash, but I got bit in so many places out of my ability to see. And reach.

I didn't have any knowledge of Lyme until sometime later from a local newspaper article about a local woman with it and her 'journey'. It still really didn't kick in (that I might have Lyme Disease) until 92-93 when I began running a fever for 3-4 weeks or more that would spike at 103+. At one point I was in bed delirious and my pre-teen daughter went and got a neighbor to deal with me.

Yet the W.B. test results I got in 93 were brushed off because "There is no Lyme in Missouri". Nothing, again, was said about RMSF. But a repeat of the exact symptoms in 2014-15 made my new Dr. to have me tested and this time the RMSF showed up on tests 3 weeks apart. Still Lyme wasn't mentioned, and it was a less than useful Elisa test. WB wasn't even used the second time.


I can't avoid the darn things. I have to go outside and the dogs go outside. Even if I stripped down each time I went out I probably still couldn't find every one of them, and my one dog is a Cocker Spaniel. Looking for ticks on her would be a full day's dedication. I give them a preventative and hope for the best.

never had any indicators or any embedded ticks... we have dogs, but they're healthy and my hubby and I have Lyme. All of a sudden got very sick and was in ER with a kidney shutting down.

Never been bitten to my knowledge. Once I felt something crawling on my side in bed at night, got up turned on the light and it was a tick. Not engorged. Woke up wife and we checked each other over and found nothing. Have found ticks on the dogs a few times over the years but we're careful to keep them out of tall grass and bushes. Found several on my socks some years ago after hiking through tall grass but never found any attached. Wife was bit ~15 years ago. She sent in to County vector control and had it tested, negative.

My husband and I brushed the road leading to our land back in 1975. We had LOTS of wood ticks on us. We never got sick. In 2003 I found a wood tick in my right groin area. I removed the tick but went to the clinic the next morning when a red line headed from the bite to my heart. I was checked to make sure I got all of the tick. Got a prescription for antibiotics (not long enough) and a tetanus vaccination (not good). Later I developed fevers, achy feet, knees, and many more symptoms. I'm in a wheelchair now. I've tried different treatments. Doing Klinghart and Buhner now.
