Thank you, LymePickle. You make some very good points. We were never very thrilled about putting our teen on an anti-dperessant but she was suffering so much we needed to something for the time being. Now that we have the Lyme diagnosis, we will make plans to get her off of it safely as she heals. Thankfully, we will be having her Lyme literate primary doctor working alongside an integrative LLLMD. Thanks again for sharing your information.
middleagedmama - don't feel bad about
your daughter taking this. Sometimes we need a little help.
As long as you are aware of what can happen...and don't keep raising the dose...and leave her on indefinitely..
A few months after lyme 'hit' me (still undiagnosed) I went through anxiety and bouts of depression...simultaneously. It was horrible.
Luckily for me...it subsided over time...after a few months.
My husband mentioned awhile after that he was impressed with my Dr. (regular Doc) for not suggesting I take an anti-depressant...and he was proud of me for toughing it out.
I told him that if it hadn't subsided....I may have taken something. I no-way could have stuck it out if it continued on for many more months. I thought I was going crazy.
As I said...sometimes we need a little help. Our brain is another 'organ' in our body. In my opinion it's really not any different than needing a pain killer for awhile....when we're in pain....or a sleeping med...etc.
Sometimes the natural remedies don't work for us.
