Hello to all. Long time no visit. Still dealing with neuropathy and muscle pain. Anyway, I need some dental work done. Wisdom, crown and a cavity. My nerves are 24/7 inflamed already and the slightest irritation makes them do haywire. Has anyone experienced oral surgery and if so, what's the outcome? Id hate to damage nerves and have another problem to deal with. I'm honestly dreading the dentist for this reason. Any thoughts? Thanks as always.

Are you using a biologic dds?

Is the teeth needing repair/work requiring any metal removal?

Did the dds do a Clifford test to make sure you are not allergic to the crown?
Best to use a biological dds-doing dental wrong can make you much worse and somethings doing dental right can lead to cure

What are you taking for an anti-inflammatory? That would be the first thing I'd be looking into.

Do expect to take "longer than normal" to heal. Not every Lyme patient experiences this, but many do.

For me, pain was stronger too, it just added more pain on top of what I already had, so I needed good pain meds when they were extracting teeth.

No biological dds. Gotta stick w what insurance gives me. Main thing is wisdom teeth removal. I'm not putting any metal in my mouth. That's out of the question. Also seeing a tmj specialist

For anti inflation I just use turmeric, braggs acv and msm. I'm off abx at the moment. They make my muscles feel like they're melting confused

I am dreading the dentist also. I have to get 7 failed implants removed and at minimum two all on 4's

It doesnt sound like Zircon is strong enough, and I have been told the same for Mini's so I am stuck with Titanium.

The only good thing is nearby Costa Rica is 60-75% cheaper than the US.

You can rinse with Xylitol to slow the
bacteria in the mouth until you can be seen.

Getting digital panoramic in the next few days as no one does 3D CADs here. Will be interviewing dentists and getting quotes all month.

Good luck, CA!! I have titanium implants myself - and I had no choice, as there are no Biological dentists in my area, and titanium is the only metal offered here. That was nearly 2 (or is it 3 now?) years ago and I've not noticed any issues at this point. I'm not 'resting easy', but I refuse to panic over it.

The implants have saved some bone already too. I can tell that I do have slightly more bone around each implant now.

I wouldn't expect much pain from getting wisdom tooth removed. I had mine done by a biological dds named cook in wis. I think I took half an aspirin and went back to work.

Be careful with metals-get a Clifford test before-you do not want something in your jaw 24-7-365 that you are allergic to-which will lower immune system and hurt your health

If the wisdom tooth has erupted, it will be an easier extraction than if the tooth is impacted.

There are so many variables.

Most importantly, is do what the dentist says after the surgery. You want to heal properly.

Most definitely. Our mouths carry loads of bacteria. Lots of toxicity for our condition. That's why I'm addressing oral care. I guess I'll roll with the punches on this one. Fingers crossed.

Can anyone explain the difference between a biological dentist and a regular dentist? I've never heard of one before. I have to get my wisdom teeth out in the next year or so, but I'm so scared of the pain I've been avoiding my regular appointments. I have tmj so it hurts to have my mouth opened for long combined with the nerve pain from Lyme.

Hi AzerilA- Why are you having wisdom teeth removed? The more interventions I have done to my mouth, the more I think mouths are prone to more healing issues than other areas. Are the wisdom teeth giving you pain or the DDS just wants to remove them? I agree with Traveler as far as Lyme patients heal differently. I had oral surgery in December and the outcome was very bad. Still really suffering. But that was MY experience. I would just make sure you're taking Vit D/k2 if you do have the wisdoms out and liposomal Vit C. And also agree to the pain meds and take ABX. And I would start immune building now if you're not.

The are impacted. I want them out. They've never bothered me pre Lyme but now they are causing lots of bacteria buildup and I get occasional pain. I feel the toxins slow my healing process w Lyme. I have a cavity as well. I can just visualize permanent nerve pain in my teeth if things go wrong. I can't neglect oral care though.

I would make sure the dds removes the periodontal ligament. If they don't it wont heal right and you will end up with a cavitation. Removing infection from the jaw always helps lower the burden.

magoo - is it standard practice for the dentists (non-biological dds) to leave the periodontal ligament in place when they remove teeth?

...and what is their reason for doing so? Just easier?

Girlie, the periodontal ligament can come out with the extracted tooth. Sometimes it is left behind and a drill may be required to drill the area and some of the bone. Sometimes just curetting (scraping) and it will come out. It is just a very fine ligament that holds the tooth to the bone.

An impacted tooth is usually not aligned for a perfect extraction. The impacted tooth is turned in such a way that it cannot erupt completely from the skin. I have never seen one self correct.

They just cause pain and pressure on other teeth and misalign the teeth. They continue to cause problems and have to come out.

The normal dentist will not remove the periodontal ligament. My girlfriend asked her dentist to removed the periodontal ligament when he pulled her tooth and he told her no. Just ask your dentist and see what he says. A biological dentist will remove the periodontal ligament because that is how they have been trained. It is very important to remove the periodontal ligament according to Dr. Huggins.
