General immunoglobulins antibody testing....as opposed to more specific antibodies? Ever do these?

I'm confused. I see there are five general antibody tests (read link) that are not disease specific. I thought they all were disease or illness specific.

I read this while googling chronic illnesses- people sugesting the tests in the link, which again, are not just general antibodies, not illness, organ, disease specific. Weird. I know specific ones - thyroid, lupas, candida ect list goes on.

If anyone has a good explanation- please share. I am wondering if this is a good idea, as I'm trying to get my immune system back in shape with diet ect, no more abx or herbs for now. I'm brain storming LOL

It looks like these are a "shot gun approach" to a broad general area, then you narrow down from any of these to specifics?

I've had this test done, but did not do the vaccine challenge since my subclasses were not low enough. If your doc orders this test, they are looking to see if you have CVID...which would qualify your for IVIG.

60-400 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) or 600-4,000 milligrams per liter (mg/L)

IgG
700-1,500 mg/dL or 7.0-15.0 grams per liter (g/L)

IgM
60-300 mg/dL or 600-3,000 mg/L

IgD
0-14 mg/dL or 0-140 mg/L

IgE
3-423 international units per milliliter (IU/mL) or 3-423 kilo-international units per liter (kIU/L)

References ranges are age dependent and will vary depending on where you get your labs done.....

IVIG is an immune system modulator. It's extremely expensive and is only granted for a handful of indications.

Bases on limited responses, I'll assume most LLMDs dont do much with these (not just my LLMD). Funny.

This testing is reasonably common. A fair amount of people in FB Lyme groups have CVID.

My dic did igg subclasses (1-4), and iga, igm immunoglobulins. I was in range for all but in low side. For example, igg subclass 3 range is 41-129 and i was 43.

(Oh- I had Drs I didnt care for too, but never called them dics, LOL)

k07- Anyway in all seriousness, I take it your referencing to "sub-classes" have verbal terms associated with them and are more area or organ specific? Like ANA antibody could be called a subclass of one of these, I dont know which one though): IgA, IgG, IgM, IgD, or IgE....?

This looks like good testing, yet uncommonly performed.
