buying supplements on Amazon

What are your thoughts on buying tinctures & supplements on Amazon? What have been your experiences? I've seen a few posts about concerns that labels were pasted on to an inferior product. What do you think?

I buy a lot of things from Amazon - it's no different than walking into most health food stores - not everything they sell would be good for you to use, either because of the brand or the function they may have.

You do have to watch to make sure you use a reputable brand. There are many that are sold on Amazon for less than you can buy them elsewhere.

Check their rating (# of stars) and what others are saying about it, or you can stick to the brands you already trust.

iherb is another one that I use a lot, and I do the same things, look for specific brands, and compare prices of things.

The other thing to watch for is shipping prices, some sites have low shipping costs and others have very high shipping costs.

I've had inferior product but it wasn't amazons fault. Amazon just operates as a market for other vendors and those vendors are accountable for their product. I generally enjoy buying my herbs on amazon because it's already got my address and card number saved making it really easy to just click and buy. I also like the extensive product reviews they have and that i can often package it with other books or whatever and it all arrive together (sometimes)

What I don't like about Amazon - is the order is split up.

So if I order three items...they are shipped separately - I guess because they are coming from three different companies?
Not sure why that happens.

It depends on what they have 'in stock' as well as other arrangements with their sellers as to what I get when. I often get multiple products from different sellers on Amazon, but not always.

I ordered tinctures and supplements off of Amazon and eBay for a couple years, because that's just what I was accustomed to doing. I tried iHerb recently. The prices on a lot of my items were lower than those on Amazon and eBay (there are exceptions, and iHerb doesn't carry everything), and it's awesome getting all of them in one box, rather than a bunch of different packages spread out over the course of a week. Plus, you get the loyalty credit, so it's kind of like eBay Bucks, which I've always enjoyed getting from supplement purchases over the months.

Anyway, they're cool, just wanted to rave about iHerb, though. Haha.

As far as quality control, I feel like most supplements couldn't be faked, at least not without people noticing, then reporting the sellers. I've met a couple Lymies who, I feel, were kind of unhealthy in their avoidance of Amazon and eBay. What I took away from our conversations was that they felt everyone on these sites was out to get them. I shouldn't judge, because I understand the concerns, and I know these illnesses can mess with your head.

I haven't had a bad experience, at least not when it comes to supplements being fake or tampered with. My biggest concern would be storage of sensitive things, like probiotics.

I do buy some stuff on Amazon that no one would bother to counterfeit like Nutramedics and Primal Defense Probiotics. I also give a thumbs up to Iherb.com and Natural Healthy Concepts websites. I always check prices/coupons at all 3 before ordering.
