Well, Tulsi is an adaptogenic just like ashwagandha (which is what I take), but from what I have been reading, Tulsi is more likely to lower high cortisol.
I do take high doses of ashwagandha, as I was into serious adrenal fatigue (Addison's crisis range), and I take a homeopathic remedy for adrenals as well by NatraBio. I started out under a doctor's care, but when I plateaued and she refused to change my treatment - only blaming my diet, even though I had done several extensive food journals for her - I fired her and have been on my own as she was the only doctor in my area that even accepts the idea that adrenals can fail without pushing the person into total shut down, My other alternative was to check myself into the hospital - but that's something I refuse to do with these infections.
Lymehater, try ashwagandha. It might be better for you. Unfortunately you won't know until you try it.
My understanding is that as long as the doctor understands how to interpret test results, the 4 point saliva test for adrenals is the most accurate test there is.
BeKindPls - you could try ashwaganda if you know your adrenals are low. I would suggest waiting on anything else though until you get your results -just to be sure.
As the adrenals are "going down" (and when they are healing) it's not a straight decline or raising of the amount of cortisol - it looks more like a graph of the stock market with many smaller ups and downs. It's very similar to healing Lyme - periods of good days, and then suddenly some bad days. As treatment progresses, there will be less bad days and more good days.
For me right now, IF I can keep the stress in my life gone, I have reached a point where I can function pretty well most days. The key is keeping the stress out of my life, unfortunately life goes on though, and we don't always have control over all the stress in our lives. My step daughter is in the hospital right now, and we may need to take her 3 young boys for a while as her husband has taken all the time off work he can already to be with the boys. Having 3 kids 7 & under in the house again? Hellooooo stress!! LOL!
thank you.
