TGF Beta 1- mold indicator

That TGF is pretty elevated.

I dont know if candida can elevate TGF Beta-1, but my LLMD thought yeast and mold can trigger some same tests, which is why he also does candida antibody blood tests on all lyme patients.

You mentioned other mold indicator tests as well, did you get like C3a or VIP?

Food for thought: Shoemaker the mold "guru", does not DX mold by one test alone.

I know Alpha Lipoic Acid and Cholestramine are used in mold treatment.

My TGF-beta was 22,000. I did have mold in my vents and remediated. Perhaps adequately, perhaps not. It made no difference in my symptoms. My TGF-beta came down to 5000 though, but i was concurrently taking dan shen and japanese knotweed, both of which are known to lower it.

My personal opinion, the science is weak on the mold connection. I fully believe molds are a big issue because i'm not a dunce and recognize the connection between microbiota and inflammatory disease unlike the so many "skeptics" out there who can't seem to put 1+1 together. But on the other hand i don't know how i feel about shoemaker. I really wish the dude gave more citations for his claims or at least published his own data. His general philosophy is very believable but his testing methods are questionable. None of these markers are specific for molds and can likely be found in a variety of illnesses which may or may not be mold connected and have been poorly studied for this association. His assertion that Marcons cleave a-MSH is unsubstantiated and so on. I just feel like the guy may have taken a serious issue and effectively ruined the credibility of anyone concerned with mold illness. But i can't actually say because he doesn't cite anything worth a darn so i can understand where he's coming from. You almost have to have faith in the guy

has anyone tried Cholestyramine? Looks like that is something to take that helps lower TGF Beta. Also saw that tumeric or curcumin could help bring these numbers down.

I just ordered a turmeric curcumin combination that got great reviews on amazon. Do you have mold issues or do you just think your numbers are high from Lyme?

I had high c4a but normal c3a. If I remember right, high c3a is usually more lyme-related. I have something environmental in addition to Lyme, just not sure what exactly. My doctor ran a formaldehyde allergy test today. I reacted really badly when we got a mattress a few years back. Had horrible all over itching that lasted 6 months.

Do you think you are currently in a home with mold? Do you feel better if you leave your home? Sometimes people are sick from moldy workplaces or even their car.

There's a urine test you can do through realtime labs that can measure mycotoxins in urine. Costs a lot though - $700. Or, you can just try some different binders and see if you feel better. I originally tried modified citrus pectin (some docs use it as a weaker version of cholestyramine) and it really helped with my insomnia.

Yeah I've considered the real time labs test but it is pricey. Could you give me an example of different binders? Is the citrus pectin and Cholestyramine examples of this? I've looked a little bit into cholestyramine.

As for my home when I first got ill I lived in a house that was about 10 years old. I lived there for a few years I think I actually tested the house with a home mold test. The house I live in a 2 year old house and haven't felt any different since the move and doubt there is mold here. I am consider doing a mold test to check though. As for my work I'm not so sure. It's a big company in a big building and I do feel weird there a lot. My thinking though is the Florecent lights really mess with me. However i have thought that it is possible there is something in the air there that is messing with me. Ton of employees there though and have never heard of anyone else becoming ill.

As for the testing I got it done through blood work at mid America labs

Yeah I just got the numbers and checked the ranges that shoemaker gives. Cholestyramine is a prescription correct? So id just request from the dr the pure form of it? I've been taking activated charcoal and may have to look into the bentonite clay.

Yes, you are right, Cholestyramine (prescription) is a binder. So is charcoal, bentonite clay, chlorella, diamataceous earth, zeolite, modified citrus pectin (MCP) and welchol (prescription). There's probably more but I can't think of them. Here's a post I read on MCP when I first started taking it:
