Exercise with Oxygen Therapy (EWOT)

Has anyone heard of or done this? I saw my LLMD today, and he suggested it. It's not that expensive, but it's not cheap either. I was just wondering if it's worth it. I searched online, but all the information I found seemed to be from the companies who sell the equipment to do it. Looking for some unbiased opinions.

Everything else was pretty much stay the course. I am sooooo close to FINALLY being on the full dose of my antibiotics (just 2 more pills to go!). I have been feeling really well, with the exception of a little Herxing last night when I increased the dose of my Tinidazole. He also gave me a schedule to add in a biofilm buster and colloidal silver. He also said he will probably start pulsing the other abx eventually too (currently only pulsing the Tinidazole).

So my question is, since I'm doing so well, do I really need to do this?

I've actually not heard of this and had to look it up. Was not able to find a lot of peer reviewed research to support benefits of using a concentration mask while exercising, but I know myself and a few on this forum have had some positive results using HBOT.

I started HBOT when I was really sick and it got me about 10-15% better before I no longer saw any benefits. Hard to say if it would be of benefit if I were to try it again at this point. I hear your frustration we all are stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to weighing the cost vs. unknown reward.

Personally I think if you are well enough to exercise just take it incredibly slow and easy. For healthy individuals this means only adding 5-10 minutes to your total workout time per week, so for Lyme recovery probably be even more conservative than that. If your doing weights ACSM recommends increases of 5-15% total workload per week so again for a Lyme patient probably be more conservative.

If you happen to live at elevation and are exercising I would say there could be more of a case for using some form pressurized oxygen treatment to hasten recovery.

In terms of solidifying your recovery I think a better case could be made for adding herbals to your treatment plan (if you haven't already). There's a lot of anecdotal and scientific evidence to support it's use. At least more than I can find on EWOT, so if it were me I would try that first (if you haven't already). Awesome to hear you are doing so well!

After using EWOT for several months, I think it may be the best thing that you can do to restore you body. There are a number of sites selling equipment for thousands of dollars to set up a home EWOT system, but there is a way to do it on the cheap. Here is how:

As one of the unlucky persons that has to depend on an oxygen concentrator 24/7 to survive, I have mixed emotions about people with healthy lungs doing this for exercise purposes. But to be honest it's probably because I can't get my insurance to pay for me to have a portable concentrator so I can't exercise at all.

I'd be more interested in this home made contraption more for outside exercise, but it doesn't look very feasible for that. The reservoir bag looks fragile.


I do question the oxygen flow amounts though. I'm reminded often that it is dangerous for me to set my delivery level higher than prescribed, which was recently bumped from 2 to 3.

If you're going to levels of 10, do you thoroughly know how this may be affecting your heart and lungs?
