If you get bit by a tick after healing from Chronic Lyme?

We treat when being reinfected to keep the disease from taking hold. Your immune system may be strong enough to beat back any infections, but how would we be able to know that and who wants to go through the ahony of chronic Lyme after improving.

Also, with a new bite, you never know what new infections will be introduced for the first time.

I think your idea of different strains is logical. Perhaps science will prove that.

All I can say, it takes many years, many tick bites, and NOT FALLING ILL after them to feel you are finally 'safe'.

It's been 8 years lyme free, despite of new bites. Both my daughter and I do not fall ill after bites any more.

Just the last 3 months, I got 6 bites, one just less than a week ago. I barely have time to heal the wounds, and I get again bitten. This year has been particularly bad for ticks.

Your question is pertinent. Only treating infections is NOT the way to go. Lyme treatment should never leave the immune system aside. And you should try to treat your body holistically, because it will be your immune system that has to keep Bb and all other infections at bay, not medicines...

It's been 8 years lyme-free, but I'm still trying to improve my health. I reached 50 this year, so I'm going through the process of ageing (with menopause, etc). I do continue taking good care of my diet, taking energy treatments to balance my liver, gut, kidneys, ANS...

The more holistic we 'treat', it becomes like a way of life almost.

I use the Violet Ray for helping my body get negative ions, some pulsed infrared on and off... I'm thinking to purchase a PEMF mat and an ionic foot bath to continue on detox + support of my organs, and body systems.

In no way, I would like to live lyme again, not the way I lived. And I have a child who almost died due to lyme and coinfections, she's still young, so I have to continue researching so that she can also keep her body functioning, as she has her whole life ahead!

I guess, the basic answer for you is: think holistic, and you'll make it!!!

There are many people with very healthy fully functioning immune systems that get these infections... and if you get hit with a Lyme and company bite .... you will most likely fall ill. Even if you have successfully treated Lyme. Unless you are still treating and also even if you are still treating.

So my understanding or lack there of would say that when/if we heal then we are just a ticking time bomb. And then if we get infected again then pow infected....I think immune system can keep it at bay but I think that someone with a fully charged immune system can get brought down.

I think there's got to be a missing link.

Who follows up with the healed after 20- 50 years??

And the kids- doesn't jones say kids can be cured? How long are they following up with them? Why kids and when is the cut off?

I guess there are healthier and unhealthier for certain problems: a guy dying with cancer was healthier for heart problems, for example.

But a guy dying from a heart attack, had a better immune system, probably...

Some people 'get' lyme, while others seem to resist lyme. I see that almost daily here, for more than a decade, since I moved here.

I needed JUST one tick bite to almost die. My daughter developed arthritis after her first tick bite ever, at age 2, and it was in belgium, not here.

I got bitten in parks in the middle of Brussels, once, and not rarely I catch ticks in urban parks.

of course people who get more bitten have more chance to 'catch' lyme. But not all will catch lyme after infected tick bites. The ones who do fall ill are exception, here in the area I live. Note that we live in very old contaminated area, much OLDER history of lyme disease than you guys in the US.

There are quite many physicians today here saying that a functioning immune system will fight Bb easily.

Before lyme, I rarely caught colds, was pretty active. Only after I treated lyme, I started catching colds, funnily. After reading about the 'not catching colds reasons', I realized that it was a problem of my immune system, in fact. I SHOULD have caught colds from times to times, but it RARELY happened for decades.

I don't even have a memory when I caught a cold in my whole life history... Not in childhood, nor later.

That was in fact, a failure of my immune system, that was blocked in a mode (TH1 or TH2, I don 't remember). That made me prone to get bacterial infections such as lyme, if I understood it well.

My apparent immune 'strength' was a weakness, in fact.

Once lyme got dormant, I started catching colds like hell. So again, another imbalance to the OTHER side.

Now I'm 'normal' I think: a couple of colds a year.

But you may be also right: there can be a missing link somewhere too. I wonder why, in the whole village I live, only my daughter and I have got that missing link in the past that made us so ill with lyme.

And why now, we don't fall ill anymore despite dozens of bites? I certainly had more than 40 bites since my lyme went dormant 8 years ago. And my daughter about 25.

It's statistically more than sure we got reinfected. And not just once.
But we didn't fall ill. i believe it's because we treated and still treat holistically.

But no one can prove anything, of course.

I'm just glad I became like my neighbors, that don't fall sick after tick bites.

It would help if the ticks that bit were tested. Not all have the infections and not all infectedtransmit so being bit isn't the criteria for proving that you are somehow immune to the illness. I live in an area where 80 %of the ticks have Lyme. I test all my families ticks. Even Lyme pos ticks are not transmitting but many are. Many people around here get bit often. It's the luck of the blood draw ... seems to be luck/ specific circumstances that occur upon the bite.

Just sort of playing by devils advocate in an unknown / unstudied game and not instigating.

It's hard to believe that everyone who comes down with this has a poor functioning immune system as I've read many cases of those healthy as a horse falling to infections.

Daisies, the info came from Dr. Rau, Paracelsius, it may be already old.

I don't believe in my area 100% of ticks have Bb (I only test them energetically, though). The truth is that dogs are bitten often, cats too, and they usually do not fall ill here with Bb.

I live in Switzerland, but only 13 km away from Germany. My daughter goes to school in Germany, takes the train every day, and it only takes her 40 minutes to reach it, with her bicycle ride included. So it's pretty close. We share the same ticks!

My naturopathic doctor lives in tick land, near Freiburg, exactly in the Black Forest region. Not everybody is ill with lyme there. So in no way, it is not the INFECTION that makes the disease.

The same way that there are millions of viruses in the air during cold seasons, people remain in the same infected room, but not all fall ill with colds or flu, well, why would that be EXCEPTIONALLY DIFFERENT for lyme?

Same as Herpes viruses: why is that some people never show any signs if they have herpeses in their blood?

The idea that physical strong, sportspeople have super immune systems is wrong, in my opinion. Look at Armstrong with cancer. Anyone catching cancer has immune problems, no matter how much sports and physical strenght they have.

Dr. K. uses to say that high perfomance sports people are even more prone to developing lyme BECAUSE during intensive physical training, their immune systems are shut down: all the energy goes to physical performance!! That is when the bacteria develop.

Maybe that's another reason for sportspeople or highly active people getting cancer too.

Dr. K said in the conference that there are more people suffering from bartonella than Bb, for example. They catch mostly from cats' fleas.

How many times haven't I got bitten by cats' fleas in my life??

He says we no longer can speak about 'tick-born-diseases' because spiders, fleas, mosquitoes are also infected.

So you guys will still be stuck to the idea that you all got ill just because of ticks, and that without ticks you would have been healthy?

Ecology is changing, the planet is warming, insects are spreading around, and so are diseases they transmit.

Scott Forsgreen said that he thinks microbes are on the low bottom of the list, if one aims to reach wellness. Thinking that bacteria is the enemy and aiming it only is only to think in short term.

I'm glad to know he considers himself now lyme free. Poor guy, it took him 20 years or more to heal lyme!

But, without the introduction of the bacteria to the body, we wouldn't have these infections. The process that follows is what makes us ill and have symptoms - but what is that exactly? It's not just one or two things, so treating the infections and healing the body is what we must do.

Do you not do any thing for prevention? That alone could explain why your daughter and you aren't reinfected/infected.
