Pregnancy and co-infections

I'm glad you posted here to learn about lyme and pregnancy.

I would assume (to be on the safe side) that the co-infections may also be transmitted during pregnancy.

Are you planning on treating the bart and babs so you can get to full healing?
I would recommend that before you 'try' for a pregnancy.

I don't have any personal experience...just the knowledge I've gleaned from reading about it.

I had Lyme, Bart & Babesia (unknowingly) when I was pregnant with all 3 of my kids. All of my kids got Lyme from me, and at least my youngest got Bart from me. I'm suspicious that my oldest also has Bart because she recently has begun complaining that the bottoms of her feet hurt.

I'm not exactly sure how these infections can affect a fetus, but I did have a 19 week loss in between my oldest and my twins, for no apparent reason, which at the time I had no idea how / why it happened, but now I suspect it was probably the infections.

Having kids with these infections is very challenging. My girls, who are the "sickest" had a lot of "weird" things going on as infants (they still do, but now we have a better idea of when it's Lyme and when it's not, although even that can be very confusing). We had a lot of medical intervention, but now I believe it was Lyme & co causing their issues. On top of the guilt I feel, they are not sick enough to appear sick to outsiders, but are sick enough to make daily life a challenge almost all the time. I also imagine that at some point they will get sicker, despite treatment and our constant vigilance with their diets and immune support. On top of that, the treatment is quite expensive for me plus the 3 of them.

I'm so sorry to hear that your family has to struggle with this as well.

It seems like, from what I've been reading, that people who have been doing treatment have a smaller chance to pass the infection versus those who didn't know they had TBDs. No science there, just word of mouth.

My hormones are pretty wrecked on top of it all. I'm so bummed out that this disease may take away my ability to have my own children.

We're not aggressively treating, we're more trying to support their systems (immune, detox, liver, adrenals, healthy gut, etc.) and keep their diets clean. We are doing some bug killing, but are really trying to assist their immune systems in handling the infections. We struggled a lot with how aggressively to treat, and we're trying to walk the line of treating them enough that we're helping them, but not so much that they are herxing and suffering even more.

I'm not positive they'll get sicker, obviously, but it is a huge worry for me.

Thank you so much for your post! When I read yours, I felt the same exact way! People really don't understand. I feel alone so much too, and really have no one to talk to about it all. Of course I talk to my husband, but it feels like we're on our own special island.

People around here have heard of Lyme, but don't understand chronic Lyme, and definitely don't understand all the ways it can make you sick. And they see me, seemingly "normal", picking them up from school, going to school functions, but almost every day I have to decide between taking my kids to the park (or running errands, or having a playdate, etc.) and having the energy to make them dinner. And this doesn't take into account all the energy I spend managing their illnesses and dealing with the constant things that come up as a result of that.

My doctor here uses a combination of blood markers, dark field, and hand cradle testing (ZYTO) to diagnose Bartonella. I am also clinically very obvious. All the classic symptoms.
