I had horrible leg and foot neuropathy when I first got sick. Sometimes my whole right side would go numb and it hurt like nothing I have ever experienced. I am so sorry you have to go thru this. I don't wish this on my worst enemy. I wouldn't be able to survive without Gabapentin (prescription) I think I am at the highest dose. I hate taking it but I really have no choice. Lyica also is supposed to work but I didn't like the side effects. I also take all the B vitamins to help repair the nerves and Alpha Lipoic Acid 600 mg 2x a day. And a good Fish oil.
My new LLMD took me off all of my supplements and my neuropathy fired right back up, it was a very painful weekend. So that told me the vitamins and especially the Alpha Lipoic Acid was making a difference. You need to buy a high quality vitamin. I purchased one from the Grocery store because I was out and the next day I could tell.
Some things that have helped with the pain: 1) Taking an epsom salt bath with baking soda. I have a huge tub so I use 4 cups of epsom salts and 1 cup baking soda. I also dry brush before getting in to help detox my skin.
Sometimes the warm water does not help and I have to resort to cold water. I know it doesn't sound fun to get into a tub of cold water and sit for as long as you can stand it, but it does help.
I noticed that if I get a virus my neuropathy flares up again. Right now it's normally stays in my right or left foot sometimes both. If I walk around too much without sturdy shoes they really fire up. Sitting or lying down also seem to aggravate it.
This too is my worst symptom and has been the death of me. I am not a wimp. I had 3 natural child births, two herniated discs, a crushed patella, and my sacrum went out of place and they couldn' t get it to stay back in. I also have had three cracked ribs and a broken tailbone. This neuropathy makes everything pale in comparision to the pain it gives.
I live in a state where medical marijuana is available, while I hate using my vaporzor sometimes it's the only thing that will help with the pain. Well for me all it does is relax me and I go to sleep. I also have Kratom (which is legal in my state) it acts like an opiate but doesn't hurt your liver. There is a FB group for people with Lyme using Kratom. It works but it keeps me awake (even the one that isn't supposed to) and tastes god awful. I mix with applesauce but then I can barely choke it down. But when you're desperate to get away from the pain, it's worth it.
My neuropathy has gotten better with treatment so there is hope. Some days I hardly have any pain. So there is hope.
Feel free to email if you have any other questions and I may be able to help. Again this sucks big time and I'm so sorry you have to go thru this.
