Plaquenil

My doctor started me on plaquenil in combination with minocycline for my first round of treatment. I know minocycline is an antibiotic related to doxycycline, yet I looked plaquenil up and found that it is a DMARD, used to treat malaria, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. I found no connection to treating Lyme except that when used in combination with minocycline is affective at treating Lyme arthritis, and is fools insurance companies into thinking arthritis is exactly what is being treated. Yet, of the millions of symptoms Lyme has caused me, arthritis isn't one. Does anyone know of other protocol it is used for? Or has anyone else been treated with plaquenil?

I thought I had Levaquin, but I just had a look in my medicin box and it wasn't Levaquin, but Plaquenil (I think at some point my dr must have mentionned Levaquin, hence the confusion - and my bad memory played its role too).

It was combined with Azythromycin and Minocyclin - also my first round of treatment.

I wasn’t reacting well on the combination (too hard on my digestive system, severe herxing - but I have to add that I don't know which abx caused the problems), but most of my dr’s patients react very well.

It can cause eye problems (I didn’t have them, but I had to stop this combination after 6 weeks). My pharmacist (and the dr also afterwards) advised me to get my eyes checked before starting treatment, so that my dr would know for sure where the damage comes from, if I had any showing up.

I am not on it but I a family member is and from what I understand the Plaquenil has cyst busting properties. He is using doxy and planquenil. So far he has not had any adverse effects.

We should always watch for side effects that can be damaging!! We have to take such large doses of abx in order to have any hope of defeating these bacteria, that side effects and dangerous reactions should always be watched for!

By the way, that goes for herbs and natural treatments as well!

I was just put on Plaquenil for EBV. My doctor said that they need to address my viral infections first because I am not responding well to abx because my immune system is too busy trying to fight EBV and Coxsackie.

I am super concerned about the side effects though.

and actually t. whipplei is very common it's just that it doesn't cause disease it only mostly does in middle aged white men. Farmers and anyone working with soil and sewage are known to become infected. I too have EBV hippie hiker chick. I can't eat at all have no appetite and my stomach always hurts and diarrhea and vomiting were the beginning of my issues. I took a supplement called deer antler velvet spray and that was where my infection came from this stuff came from New Zealand I could have contracted from the hospital I worked in too but right after I took that stuff was when everything began so I know it was from that. I have dysautonomia caused by this severe, severe arthralgia and stomach issues bloated and distended constantly I'm dropping weight now I get alot of inflammation throughout my whole body, it's caused my hearing and eyesight to deteriorate, and neuropathy too, and it's spread to my brain where I have confusion, lethargy, insomnia, difficulty concentrating, memory issues, and sometimes tremors I've come very close to having seizures I woke up a few times in my sleep convulsing. I'm awake all night and sleep all day my sleep wake cycle is all screwed up. Also I have high cholesterol even though I barely eat and when I do its always healthy stuff so my body isn't metabolising fats or lipids at all. It's also affected my heart too. You should read up on some of the literature on whipples cases alot of them present in so many different systems it's not your normal stomach issues, anorexia, and arthralgia. Most cases spread to the nervous system alot cause endocarditis and brain disorders. I also have circular shaped sores and lesions all over my skins mostly my back, arms, and stomach and lesions are a huge indicator of this. Alot of cases don't present with anemia or hypoalbuminemia some do some dont. I think this bacteria is what's causing alot of our digestive disorders today because it is common place in our soil and environment some get sick from it and some don't. Look up the testing they did in young children it was found in almost ever single one's stool sample. I guess depending on what form or strain it is people may get sick from it and get whipples disease and others dont. They say it's possibly do to a genetic component but they say that about everything these days.

Hey girlie forum moderator would you know of any possible way to be tested for this out in arizona well for whipples disease I was tested for almost everything you can think of for a minute I thought I was dealing with a prion disease because over in europe they are causing prion diseases in people. Cdc found cwd prions in antler velvet. But I'd be dead if it was. It spread from my stomach to my lymph nodes to my nervous system and now my brain which is not a good sign. Stomach issues, barely being able to eat, losing weight and diarrhea and severe arthritis and everything comes back normal in blood work except cholesterol. Now having constant ringing in left ear lift sided headaches with alot of pressure in my head and alot of left sided intra ocular pressure too and constant memory and confusion issues. Difficulty walking too my balance is all out of sorts. Scary stuff. Actually most cases of whipples disease are showing up in endocarditis and encephalitis cases. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated I have no quality of life and I'm getting sicker day by day. I know how they test for it I just didn't know if maybe you knew of someone in the casa grande arizona city area that could test for it.

It obviously was a slow growing bacteria because it took 6 yrs for me to get this sick

I don't believe you guys have a forum for whipples disease I checked unless I'm wrong. I was directed to here through possibly taking levaquin and plaquenil together.
