Artemisinin and Mood

I've just finished my second "pulse" of artemisinin (I'm doing four days on, four days off) and have started to notice what I think is a pattern of rapid onset of depression symptoms after each pulse. The first one hit me two weeks ago while on vacation, and I was left feeling deep despair and weeping uncontrollably, despite being in my favourite place on earth! The same thing happened last night, with the new bonus of high emotional reactivity, and today I'm once again full of tears and feelings of hopelessness. I'm already on a non-SSRI antidepressant and don't want to add more at this stage, as I suspect the mood shifts could be due to herxing (although I'm also experiencing some challenges in my personal life, I don't think they're the cause of my mood shifts). Has anyone else experienced something similar or have suggestions about a possible link?

Thank you both so much. After reading your replies, it's clear to me that my mood swings are very likely from herxing (and l am now wondering if the life-long issues I've had with anxiety and depression, and childhood OCD symptoms, are rooted into Bart. or Babesia infections--my doctor suspects I've had exposure to at least Bart early in life)...it's amazing how symptoms can skew ones ability to realize the obvious! Traveler, thank you for the reminder to up my detoxing; I've been letting it slip recently, as I'm feeling overwhelming fatigue, which can be immobilizing for me. However, I'll pull things together now and re-focus on it. And Girlie, thank you for the links and info. I'm going to educate myself more, so I can be better prepared for the next herx.
