Alternative to Houttuynia

I've been on abx for 1.5 years now and I want to try to get off of them, which means adopting a full and proper herbal protocol. The only Buhner core Bart treatment that I am not taking is Houttuynia. This is because:

1) It seems to be extremely expensive
2) I don't trust the sellers, many of whom are from China.

Is there a reliable place to get Houttuynia at a reasonable price? If not, is there something I can take instead of it?

I purchased my herbs from Buhner's recommended list.

Woodland Essence , Sage Woman Herbs and Green Dragon botanicals.

Japanese knotweed and sida acuta are part of the Bartonella protocol.


I also recommend taking Hawthorn for heart/cardiovascular support.

This is the brand that I and my husband used. Non-GMO and gluten free. We both were very pleased with this brand. We did have to look up the Chinese name for many of the herbs. Super fast delivery also.

And girlie, from which of those sites did you find houttuynia?

Nevermind. I see it on Woodland Essence. What should I start with in terms of a dose? A couple drops?

I hate it when links don't work.

It is called Yu Xing Cao in Chinese and I get it either on Amazon or Hawaii Pharm.

Woodland Essence was slow delivery times.

As far as dosage goes, you do one drop the first day and see how you tolerate it. You slowly move up in dosage. Maybe one drop, 2 times a day the next day. And so on and so on.

I am using IHA from Woodland E. Its only $13 for 1oz and shipping is $10. I get my stuff in several days from them. IHA is Isatis,Houttuynia & Alchornea.

the hh2 from zhang is no joke much stronger and more effective than any tincure i have taken imo .its www.hepapro.com out of cali

Once you know that you will be using it long-term - you can buy the larger bottles - and save money that way.


Yes actually the first day - start with 1 drop and don't change anything else (other herbs, etc)

If you don't react adversely, then the next day do 1 drop 3X day

After a few days than increase by a drop...so 2 drops 3X day.

Keep that going - and if at any time you herx badly - then you can go back to the previous dose you were on and stay there a bit longer before trying to increase again.

I just re-read your original post - and realize you are taking the rest of Buhner's protocol - don't know what I was thinking...lol.

I used to get organic Houttuynia from 1st chinese herbs. I know, from China.. but I never thought they were of bad quality. On the opposite. They helped me much more than some of Buhner's recommended herbs and they were also fairly priced.

Actually, 1st Chinese Herbs is based in the US. So you will need to check to see where they source each herb from. I too used houttuynia from 1st Chinese Herbs though, and had great success with it. It simply couldn't be found in any other places when I was first using it back in 2010.

I think Buhner was recommending 1stchinese.com back when he first published healing lyme in 2005-6.

I also bought most my chinese herbs there.
