You know, I was going to post on here that I took Flagyl and Tindamax and I think its safe etc etc etc...
But after reading through some literature I'm not convinced. It seems to be carcinogenic to rats and other rodents.
Thing is, at some point if pharmacologic treatment isn't going well, you're going to have to ask yourself if it's because you're not using an anti-cyst medication.
I pulsed it when I used it, and would do it that way again. There was a huge reduction in cyst formation of Borrelia in my blood under the microscope during the times I was taking it, and for me, that's hard to overlook.
Yes there's a black box warning on it :
WARNING
Metronidazole has been shown to be carcinogenic in mice and rats. (See PRECAUTIONS.) Unnecessary use of the drug should be avoided.
For Tinidazole also black box warning
WARNING: POTENTIAL RISK FOR CARCINOGENICITY
Carcinogenicity has been seen in mice and rats treated chronically with metronidazole, another nitroimidazole agent ( 13.1). Although such data have not been reported for tinidazole, the two drugs are structurally related and have similar biologic effects.
I prefer to take Tinidazole - hoping that because it's not identical...it may not be as risky.
Also - it does say they were treated 'chronically' - so another reason to pulse...and not be on it continually for two years...etc.
