It depends on the strain. The content of CBD, THC, etc. Things I know next to nothing about. Some can definitely help with things like pain, anxiety, and sleeplessness.
Though, it can also exacerbate certain symptoms:
If you have neurological issues, it could easily set you off. I experimented with it, having not used for a long time. I got deep into self-examination, thinking something was wrong with me, and that everyone thought I was retarded. I think I was a bit of a nervous freak before I got sick, so my thinking is already dysfunctional. Lyme and coinfections just add to it. Luckily, I was able to break the cycle by having the realization, for various reasons, that I actually seem kind of normal to other people. The world is not secretly plotting against me.
Brain fog is another culprit. Once your tolerance has risen, a few hits might not be enough to get you "stoned." But, until then, unless you're getting low quality marijuana, bet your butt you're gonna be high off a couple hits. Impaired to the point where you're not at baseline.
Add brain fog to that, not a good mixture. Everyone is different, but marijuana's always been a dampener to my mind. It's gonna slow me down.
Neurological issues in general, is my biggest concern with mind altering drug use with Lyme. I'm already slow. I already live slightly numbed to the world. My thought processes are already abnormal (self-consciousness, suicidal thoughts, etc.).
Some can be helpful, depending on set and setting. Thankfully, marijuana is about as tame as it can get, as far as actual, nonpharm drug use. Just go slow.
If I were to ever use it, it'd be at night, for sleep, or on off days.
Drug problems run in my family, though, so I am a fool for playing with fire.
