Constant Bladder infections?

I was diagnosed with Lyme and Bartonella in September 2015. I took abx for 18 months and only got about 30% better. I switched LLMDS and she uses supplements in addition to abx if needed. She had me stop almost all of my supplements, go on a strict elimination diet and start slowly on her supplements (I'm still on the fence if I will continue with her)

I am on my second bladder infection since the 1st of June. I also had several before with my old LLMD but he decided that the abx I was already on would help it.

So yesterday I woke with the familiar stomach pains and burning. I purchased a home test kit for UTI and it showed very positive. In June my LLMD did a blood test and then left the country, I was in so much pain I went to a walk in clinic and was given Bactrim.

I hate the thought of going back on abx again. I have Candida and am being treated for that right now and will finish the treatment round today. I'm sure my Candida is just as bad since I took a 10 Bactrim round.

I also hate the thought of spending a $145 to see my GP and get back on an abx yet again.

Has anyone else has chronic bladder infections with Lyme or Bartonella? Has anyone tried D-Mannose Pure Powder to kick out the infection? Was it successful?

While I have all the tell tale symptoms of a UTI, do you think a home test kit is accurate? When I googled it, it came up as being accurate but I would love to hear your opinions.

When I first got lyme I was associated with a group of women that had lyme and all of them had bladder infections. They all said "lyme loves bladders as a home."

I was the ONLY one without bladder problems and we could not figure out why I was different.

The differences were that I rarely ate sugar, rarely bread, not much dairy. I also drank twice as much water as all of them. We don't know if any of this made the difference or was it that I was just not predisposed to bladder infections??

Another discovery - I had never had a bladder infection and these women all had a bladder infection sometime in their life before lyme. So did this prior bladder infection make a weaken bladder? Lyme loves weak spots.

We never did know the answers to these. I sure felt for those ladies with infections..... They were in such pain.

D Mannose is supposed to be a great product. That and cranberry juice (unsweetened) YUCK! and cranberry pills. Those were some of the alternative things the ladies used. Most went the abx route because the pain was so horrific.

I also get constant UTIs and D Mannose is a lifesaver at preventing them. Overall, I have much fewer. For me the capsules worked better than the powder. I take 3 twice a day and sometimes more if I'm having symptoms. I also drink TONS of water. I hope it helps you too. UTIs are seriously the worst.

Thanks, all. I follow the AIP protocol (paleo for inflammation) so I don't eat grains, sugar, dairy or alcohol. I do try and drink about 3/4 of a gallon of water since I am using a Rife machine. So who knows why I keep getting them.

I ordered the D-mannose powder since the reviews on Amazon said it worked better and I have cranberry pills and will start them up again. I never knew how painful they could be.
