I believe that a lot do heal. They just don't post much after they are doing better. Most people seem to post when in need. There are a few regulars on here that are in remission, or had been symptom free and gotten reinfected. Apparently, there are loads who are doing better. I don't know if you are ever cured from chronic Lyme. The ones that seem to do the best, from what I have read about, are the ones that really take control of their lives. Change their diet, lifestyle, the whole 9 yards. A positive attitude does wonders as well. I'm just starting this journey myself, and some of the Lyme facebook pages and all can get overbearing, but I truly believe that if you really want to get better and take control of your life, that you will succeed.

Well, I for one began treating Lyme and Co's, as well as heavy metal toxicity the summer of 2014. I keep having roller coaster times of good and bad. Just when I think ive nipped in the bud, it rears its ugly ass crap again!!!

For the chronic Lymies, that is those who suffered for MANY YEARS w/a mystery illness but no diagnosis thus no treatment> those Lymies, myself included will unfortunately not be permenently healed;just remission!

Some people prefer to speak & believe in false hopes> but Im a realist. If youre in touch w/reality then you have a proper perspective on how to spend the rest of the days of your life!!!

All over these sites and a handful of people cured or back to normal. Is this just because they get cured and move on?

Not to mention Dr. bashing or over praising and protocol bashing or over praising. Yet if you look long enough at what people say they all doing basically the same thing whether abx or natural.

Just frustrated cause it seems only a few are healed that are on here and my hope is that more are and just left these sites.

Have you hear of Dr Rawl's?

He explains that Lyme and co is no stranger to our microbiome. He is living well, with Lyme. We have to be able to repair our immune system and, in a sense, live in harmony with it.

He uses and example of a man who was frozen in ice some time over 5000 years ago. The man was in his 40s and Lyme had been found in his body. He had a little bit of arthritis in his knees, but nothing else stuck out. He had died from an arrow to the head. He most likely had been harboring the Lyme for quite a while, but everything was balanced. His immune system had a balanced relationship with the Lyme. We strive to achieve this here. This is why it is important to make your diet as anti inflammatory as possible and rid your living and working quarters of as many toxins as possible.

In this day and age, we are bombarded with all sorts of chemicals that cause inflammation and all kinds of imbalances in our body. This allows these microbes to wreak havok in our body.

From my understanding, the best way to approach this disease is the strive for wellness.

Well to be honest - once I'm healed i fully expect to be on here way less - I will be back to work and living life. I really won't have time to be on here for hours everyday.


When we have lyme we've missed out on so much 'living' - and often many years so we want to make up for all that lost time.

People join this forum when they need help/advice...etc. So, if you're one of those people who got help right away and improved...there would be no reason to join a forum.

For me - I came on here when I was undiagnosed and asked the members if my symptoms sounded like Lyme...and that prompted me to do the Igenex test.

I live in an area where you don't hear much about Lyme disease (BC, Canada) - and I still know of several people who have healed and are still healed years later.

This is a pretty normal reaction to all the noise!

Keep in mind, also, that most people who are healed are desperately trying to get back to their lives and make up for lost time... they're not spending time on forums, online in discussions, etc. So most of the information and conversations you read are generated by people who are still working on healing and most of them are the tough and complicated cases.

It can be overwhelming and discouraging when the noise is so loud. With such a controversial illness like Lyme, and the uncomprehensible difficulties people have getting appropriate dx and effective tx, opinions are strong. I know how I feel when I come across someone who has been misdiagnosed in a hundred ways and desperately needs to be in Lyme & Co tx but they are holding on to all the disinfo so tightly. I can get a little too assertive trying to get their attention. It's human nature.

On many levels there are basic components of most of our protocols that we are all incorporating, regardless of abx or herbs or a hybrid or who we're working with, etc. And there are several "rules of thumb" in terms of dx and sequence and how our immune systems might respond, how the tx can create herxing and the supportive benefit of detox, diet, and other system support.

But how all this rolls out and the details of treatment are unique to every one of us. The good LLMD or ND will work with you to figure out those nuances within the context of tx they use for most of their pts and one specialist might do things a little differently than another.

But the key is to find someone you trust and can work with and to be open to a dynamic process that will require adjustments and shifts every step of the way. Most of the time, you end up in a different place than you started. You're not renovating your kitchen that has a starting point and an end point. Your body ad health is full of unknowns and your treatment and just living day to day creates changes that you have to understand and react to as you continue with tx.

I haven't seen ANY of the notable Lyme specialists. I've been w/ my LLMD for 3.5 yrs and so grateful for her and on my last stage of tx. After 16+ yrs going undiagnosed and becoming chronic, I was a very tough case. Would another LLMD/ND do just as well? Who knows?

My recommendation is to narrow down your viable options to a couple good choices and GET STARTED. And while you're getting started, continue to learn everything you can about diagnosis and treatment and start healing gut and detoxing. As you get started with tx, set a few goals for yourself and get HYPER ORGANIZED with keeping notes on your daily tx and tracking your response to it. Only time will tell if you're on the right tx with the right person.

But I am retired (oops, I do work as the District Clerk at our fire department 20 hours a month and I love it), but I really retired from my pension job 2007.

I wasn't sick very long.

July 27th 2016 - quit everything after being symptom free for 3 months.

Now the rest of the story. I was a very clean eater for years before getting bit. I was a detoxer for years way before getting bit. I am retired and have no money worries. I have no children to care for, I'm old. I have a super supportive husband. In our home it is constant laughter. Super low stress. I think everything was all lined up for it to work for me.

I was super fortunate to only treat the short amount of time I did. I don't believe the antibiotics did a thing for me but make me sicker. They certainly did a number on my stomach in a very short amount of time. I give all the credit to herbs. I was very precise in my protocol and it was difficult. I had lyme brain fog and could not have done it without hubby.

Anyway, being here is what I do when I can squeeze it in. I try to be here as often as I can, because like you, when I first got here I wondered where are all the well people with their stories.

They are living. That's my best guess.

I think you can tell by all the "healed stories" that we all had to find our own way. There is no one pill fits all. It is a guinea pig adventure. When something doesn't work, you move on to the next.

The reason I give my background is because I think everything contributes or exacerbates lyme.

It really is the weirdest disease. There is no rhyme or reason to how the symptoms move from place to place in your body or how they are there one minute and gone the next.

Lyme tested my patience immensely.

You will find your way. And you will find what works for you. Just jump in and "keep swimming."
