I have been on vacation for 10 days at the beach. A few days into the vacation, I started feeling so much better, not 100%, but I would say I went from 35% before vacation to 75-80% while there. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a difference. It has nothing to do with stress, I have a very stress free job and life. I did not do any of my normal detoxing, and also cheated a few times with food (and my guts let me know how displeased they were with me). But most my pains eased off drastically.

I was thinking, maybe the time while in the ocean was taking the place of the Epson salt baths, maybe the earthing, maybe just sleeping until I was ready to wake up, which was prob just about an hour longer than I normally do.

The 10 hour ride home made me feel a little worse, but within 2 hours of being back at work on Monday, the sour taste in my jaws (that had been constant for about a month, that had went away while on vacation) was back (comes and goes now) and Tuesday, my ear canals felt like they were swelling shut again, and that crazy feeling at the base of my skull came back today!

I'm ready to quit my job and moved to the coast.

Stress is funny. We are also super good at fooling ourselves pertaining to stress.

You may think you don't have a stressful job, but you still have to get up, decide what to wear, go through the whole get ready routine, is there gas in the car, when do I need an oil change, what is for dinner, oh gosh how much work piled up while I was gone that I have to deal with.

All this and more go through our heads and can cause stress.....

This is where voga is helpful, or Qi Gong or Dr. Weil's 4-7-8 deep breathing techniques. Videos are available for all of these and easy quick fixes to stress that we don't even know we have. We are good at fooling ourselves.

Hi LmLyme -

I think the ocean water can certainly have that effect! No doubt.

Another question popped into mind though - the way you described your sx also sounds like yeast/fungal overgrowth and/or die off herxing... so that's something to look into. Eating poorly (sugar/high simple carbs, junk food) can certainly make those yeast beasts feel better, lessen sx in a way.

Maybe the humidity was also helpful?

I have just he opposite reaction (and I live on the coast) - I feel horrible out in the sun, in the humidity! I'm jealous of you... can't even enjoy a natural spa right at my fingertips.

Nope, none of it, other than having an alarm clock to get up by. I have a shirt for each day, Monday shirt, Tuesday shirt... almost like Sheldon on "Big Bang" with his food lol. I do not wear make up, drive a topless jeep when it's not raining, so don't have to fix my hair, have only put gas in it one time the whole time I've had it, (I have the best husband) on Sunday's we plan the menu for the week, breakfast, lunch and supper, and do not have enough work to keep me busy for the 8 hours I'm at work. (Hired me because payroll lady was out sick for a couple weeks and they didn't have anyone else that knew the job, so we have 2 people to do the job of one, just to make sure everyone gets their check) I understand that we can have hidden stress, but I really have the best life, other than the Lyme, and it goes with me wherever I go.

I didn't think about the yeast, but I've still not got back on track with eating like I should. As far as the humidity, I was thinking maybe the lack of it compared to Tennessee where I live. But the heat felt so good! I hate that your not able to enjoy it, that's so bad! I'd be jealous of me too!lol

Would mold exposure cause that to happen. I have no proof that I work in a sick building, but I would be willing to bet on it.

Do you live at sea level .? .o2 levels may have been better...maybe keep your job and get a mhbot

What about the amount of time in the sun?

I know once summer hits, I feel better... I think partly because i have low body temp from these infections.

I always feel better when I leave my state. It's wet and cold here. I thrive in dry heat. I hate living here and would move in a heartbeat if it weren't for all my family being here. It's something I weigh all the time. Health and wellness vs family. Ugh.

It's simple - you were at the BEACH! We moved to the beach in 2003. Should have moved years before. TN is lovely...but the surf sucks!

This has happened with me before, and I'm convinced that it was from earthing, i.e., being electrically connected to the earth. I get a similar boost when I go barefoot at home.

Interesting, I was warned that being so close to the water can "unground" you... As water can be perceived to be the "opposite" as earth in some analogies.

Maybe. I think mold exposure is part of my problem - it's always, always, always humid here, even in the sun.

But if you enjoyed the humidity and the sun and the heat - then that's awesome and I think it's probably a good thing.

girlie - we were in the sun every day, stayed under umbrella some but still had plenty of sun exposure. I have low body temp also and my temp did go up to 97.0 while I was there.

Chicknorris - same with me, family is the only reason we stay here, but we are seriously talking about moving.

oldsalty - Tennessee is beautiful, and we are in East TN which I think is the prettiest of the whole state, but ya the surf is terrible! lol

Nosila - I've tried earthing at home, but it really didn't do anything for me. Maybe it was the length of time

P-I've never heard about ungrounding but I'm new to the whole grounding idea anyway. I googled it and found an article by Dr.Mercola. It just talks about how good you feel walking on the beach.

p- I hate the humidity, but it didn't seem humid to me in Florida. Even when you were not on the beach, there seems to be some air movement. My husband, who is always hot even talked about how nice it felt in the shade. Even when it was 90 degrees, sitting out on the porch in the shade was very pleasant. When it gets hot here, most the time the air is so stagnant.

I'm as new mold, as I am earthing, as I am Lyme. I'm nearly 50 and have never been sick before starting at this job 3 years ago. It's a very old building. The past 2 managers has died from brain cancer, and out of 5 ladies, one has MS, one has sorosis of the liver(never drank alcohol in her life), one has some kind of kidney problem, the other is just diabetic and then me. The ladies that retired from here, one died from Alzheimer's, one from Parkinson's, and one from Breast cancer, and one healthy.

lol, no doubt!! But seriously, they have decided to build a new building, but it will be 1 1/2 year before done. I don't think it's worth taking chances on my health for that much longer.

Are there powerlines or cell towers near your work ?,employees at the non profit i was had had similar stuff...dr k says that emf grow pathogens 6 x faster than those that are shielded...the mold thing could be in recirculating air my gf got very sick at presberyrian old building

Bluelyme - funny you ask. I work for a utilities board, our building now is in the city, but the new building is being built by an electrical sub station, which concerns me as much as the old "sick" building we are in now. After I got so sick, I closed my air vent and run an air purifier in my office. Not sure if it's doing any good, but figured it couldn't hurt.

Just had this happen to me when we went to puerto rico. Frequent urination went away, tinnitus gone, and not fatigued. We were pretty active there (similar to home) and I was sleeping the same amount of hours. Drives me crazy trying to figure it out. My thoughts were mold, earthing, or some chemical sensitivity to something in my house.

Also, we do have a cell tower somewhat close - i'd say a mile maybe.

We do have a cell tower about 2 blocks away (the way the crow flies) I forgot about it. It's relatively new and hidden pretty well

The beach is an amazing detox agent because of the ocean water. I don't do Epsom baths for kids when we are in FL, because they get it there. But imagine a detox bath that doesn't get dirty and that is constantly moving and pulling things from you, that's the ocean detox experience!

Plus the grounding is extremely good at the beach, much better than anywhere else. My dad the health /high voltage guy chimed in that that's the best grounding agent.

I HOPE YOU GET OUT OF THAT BUILDING! Mold can be worse than LYME in my opinion and just as difficult to treat and talk about with physicians. I wouldn't work in a mold environment for $1MILLION.

Am reopening this because I've also had this amazing experience over the past few weeks.

Have been in Italy visiting family. When I arrived I noticed first and foremost how the SUN made me feel much stronger (as in I could use / build muscles), more alert, less pain (muscularly mostly), and less fatigue.

But more than anything, I've noticed that the days in which I swim in the sea (which is also quite salty) are the days I have felt the best physically in over a year. Almost normal, with high energy levels. There is something about the sun, beach, but most especially sea that seems to give the body what it needs.

It has been a dramatic change – from living in a UK city where it is 80% cloudy and 50% rainy – where rain gave me really bad herxes.

Here in Italy I also have slowed down detoxing (no epsom baths, less of the other stuff), and have occasionally touched sugar / gluten just to test myself – and noticed when I swim in the sea, the negative effects of the food seem to dissipate, and less detoxing is needed.

I've also been able to increase my antibiotics dosage without much herxing, something I wasn't able to do when back in the UK (I'm now on ceftin, mepron, bactrim, and amphotericin, plus being treated for mold).

And no, it's not stress – I have a wonderful job which I love and doesn't stress me. Plus I'm still working while here; if anything, I should be MORE stressed since I am able to get less done and am falling behind with all the family around!

i felt much better at the beach too, i think it has to do with the sun, probably there are lots of things that happen at the skin level besides Vitamin D that we don't know about. there are fewer people sick of this lyme disease that live where there's plenty of sun.

another direct reason is sleep. sitting in the sun and hearing the waves, has a calming effect and we probably sleep much better/deeper than home. better/deeper sleep -> less inflammation, better immune function.

I went on a Caribbean cruise and felt normal. I think it's the sun and earthing. I even ate something with sugar in it one day....no effect. When I am at home I can't even eat fruit without joint pain. I am retired so it's not related to stress .
