I agree with you on the anxiety and depression. It is HORRIBLE!! I take half a Xanax( .25 mg ) every morning plus my regular Citalopram at night. I've taken the Citalopram for quite awhile and it has always helped me till I got Lyme. My pcp has tried different antidepressants which NEVER solves the depression. I'm currently taking an herbal protocol and rife for Lyme. I've given up on the medical profession. I'm pretty much putting my faith in God that He will heal me and guide me. Hi Patty,
I am not functioning well now so I have to treat the symptoms of this horrible anxiety and depression whether this is Lyme induced or not. I feel like I can't cope so I am going to have to trust the Psychiatrist. I am on Cymbalta and I had to increase it and not sure anymore. I did test positive in my urine a few weeks ago for lyme again. I have the shakes and Its horrible. thanks for your prayers.

Emotions sorry was not on here for a couple days have also been a little depressed because I am sick of being sick..... Hang in there!

emotions - so sorry you're suffering with this.


I know my anxiety/bouts of depression were from the infections...as they were early on when I only had a couple other symptoms and wasn't too stressed about it (yet).

So, it wasn't because I was worried/anxious about my health...it was part of the lyme or bart..or babesia package of symptoms.

I was fortunate that it greatly subsided in a few months on it's own...before I even started treating lyme. I don't know how or why that happened.

I do know at the time...it was horrible. I went to a counsellor once a week...and she would give me different tips/strategies - like a gratitude journal...and putting these little stickies on my mirror that had positive sayings...and NONE of it helped.
Our once a week talks helped a bit though because I could just let it all out.

I hope you get some relief soon...

So sorry Catch. I'm right there with you. I am too. I know I have to get myself out of this and I feel like I have my feet in cement. I'm trying to accept this dark anxious place where I am and be kinder to myself but my mind keeps me in this horrible fixed pattern. I can't stand myself complaining all the time, too. How to lighten up by compassion and awareness is something I have been working on a long time even in my work which is more interesting as to what I need to change in my life and why these infections keep persisting. But I'm in a very vulnerable weak place and can't right now. And maybe not even seeing the situation correctly.

Yes you are vulnerable because you are sick it is the bacteria it is not you I have been there I just want to shoot every friggen tick out there I get so mad!!!!

Emotions are you on antibiotics?? I thought I was almost better then my Dr took me off of bactrim bam anxiety so bad so I went back on bactrim it helps yo an extent have you ever tried it??

Right now I'm on minocycline for last two weeks and valacyclorvir an antiviral for activated mono type virus and Cymbalta for depression... sometimes take Ativan for sleep since I haven't slept in three weeks. I'm basically in flight or flight constantly with adrenaline pumping through ..on hyperalert but exhausted at the same time. thanks for your reply

catchscooter - What else have you taken besides Bactrim? Is it just psych symptoms you have left to treat now?
