I've had migraines as long as I can remember, but last night I had one that felt different. I was VERY dizzy and had a hard time getting to bed. I felt like I was going to topple over...hard. My feet were burning and I felt cold/hot (don't know how else to explain it). My husband rubbed my feet and I started falling asleep, but then it felt like my whole body got hot and I was drenched in sweat! It sort of felt like my nervous system was out of whack. I was also twitching.

I took ibuprofen, CBD, Alka-Selzer for the nausea - not at the same time. I'm also on my period, which is when I usually get my migraines. I also had two small slices of gluten free bread with butter just so I could eat something.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like lyme symptoms to me. I have months of head pain. It was so different from a migraine, but the doctor called it a migraine.

The hot and cold was me for sure. It felt like menopause to me. Soaked the sheets, threw them off and then froze. I could not get at a medium temperature.

I think when our hormones are altered in the least, lyme comes out to play even more.

I know that stress (which can release a hormone) sure did make my lyme symptoms rise.

PeetZa, I think you're right. It must be hormones. My periods have been insane the last year since I started treatment. I'm also 42 and things are changing.

Progesterone cream helped me get over the rough times of peri meno. I had it compounded by a compounding pharmacy. It was like hand lotion. I put it on at night after a shower. It was not a miracle cream, but it sure smoothed me out.

I too can relate to horrific headaches! I've been having similar symptoms like my nervous system is being attacked in a big way! Severe not stop headaches for the last week, pins and needles in hands and feet, feel like I'm going to pass out and panicky attacks!! Nothing like being a woman in her 40s and having Lyme!! I never like to say the words 'It's not fair' but I can't help but think it at times when things are so incredibly low! Have you taken anything strong for your headaches? PeteZa, I think you commented one time that you had a prescription but never filled it. I came as far as filling 3 different prescriptions: gabapentin, amitryptiline and Ativan and I just stare at the bottles but I'm too scared to take them! I might have to break down and do it because I don't know how much more of this I can take!

I saw my LLMD today. My symptoms consist of the following:
-headaches (head pressure, eye pressure, pressure at bridge of nose, temples and ears)
-swollen lymph nodes under chin
-frequent clearing of throat and coughing
-muscle twitches throughout body
-Voice hoarseness

I've had the headaches every day for the past five months to varying degrees. The past two weeks have been much better (coincidentally I'm off abx at the moment as I switched LLMDs to a doctor closer to me) but I still have a fair amount of head pressure. I'm just glad they are currently not so debilitating as they were.

Over the next four weeks I am going to start/stop the following abx: Rifampin, Cefdin, Tinidazole, Bactrim DS and Minocycline. I've tried each of these in the past but plan to do three at a time to see what combo, if any, works best. I will also be taking other supps.

I also had an appointment with a headache doctor/neurologist on Monday who prescribed Amitriptyline to see if that helps the headaches. He says to take this for 60 days (currently low dose 10mg) and then we will reevaluate.

I feel everyone's pain regarding headaches because I'm living it now. Definitely not fun and hope we all can find the magic drug/supp combo that works for us.

So sorry you are plagued too with endless headaches! It takes so much out of one! I'm going to try a compound cream of gabapentin, magnesium, it might Have amitryptiline in it too. Supposedly the cream doesn't cause as many side effects, if it helps I'll let you know! Are you going to try the amitryptiline? I have a bottle that I haven't had the nerve to try but if things continue and the cream doesn't provide relief I will give it a shot! To be headache free is my dream!!

I took one 10mg amytriptyline last night for the first time. I definitely slept better but I have a more pronounced headache this morning which is one of the side effects. I'm going to continue to see if it makes a difference.

I'm also going to a physical therapist today to work the muscles in the neck/head in hopes of some relief. Then on Monday will start a new abx regimen.

It's funny that you mention to be headache free as last night I was wasting time waiting to pick my son up from swim practice and went browsing in a couple of stores. Coming out of one I said to myself, 'Just one day without a headache, one f....ing day."

Me too!!! I feel like I'm being tested to see how much I can take! I hope the amitryptiline eventually helps you. It's so hard to function when every day you just feel like chopping off your head, at least that's how I feel. Have you ever tried the over the counter med called percogesic? I was reading a site on occipital neuralgia and this lady said that one med seemed to work when nothing else did. I had never heard of it but going to add it to my list of things to try!
