Anyone ave any experience with Alinia for Babesia duncani?

Hello.

I am about to start Alinia for Babesia duncani and I am having a hard time finding studies that provide evidence that it is effective for Babesia duncani. Please share your experience with Alinia.

My doctor is switching me from Mepron/Azith to Alinia, Doxy, and Rifampin to try to target both Babesia and Bartonella. I'd love to know if any of you have been on this "cocktail" before.

Just want to get better. Ugh!!

Thats really great to hear! I am both excited and nervous to start the new meds. Any side effects from the Alinia or Rifampin?

I did 3 rounds of Alinia partly cause its a small fortune. Definitely had a strong reaction to it the first round, about half the reaction the 2nd round and not much the third round. I think by that time I'd beaten my babesia duncani down a lot so it was definitely effective for me. Once in a while I'll pop a few days of Malarone (cause i have it) and the last time I got a reaction to it for about 2 hours telling me overall the buggers are being kept at bay but once in a while I have to beat them back down to more manageable numbers for my body to handle. it's like a small drip in the ceiling once in a while you have to dump the bucket of water.

My insurance only allowed 6 pills a month so that amount wasn't too effective. It was really hard on my stomach. Hope it helps you!

For those whose insurance won't cover there is a program with Alinia for Lyme patients to get 60 pills (a months supply) for a max of $300. That's still much higher than a small co pay but certainly worth looking into. If you pulse the Alinia it can last longer than 30 days and Alinia can be pulsed.

Just wondering if that's an option for me...the LLND's can prescribe antibiotics, but not antimalarials...Mepron and Malarone - I can't get here in Canada...

I believe it's an anti-parasitic and would be classified with drugs like ivermectin and albendazole.

Girlie you are dealing with Babs and Bart. I think Alinia would be a great option for you paired with Rifampin and something else.

Girlie, if you do have Babs I think you'd get more of a reaction out of taking the Mepron you already have rather than going out and trying to get some Alinia.

I've never heard anyone use Alinia for Bart.

Yes, I will take that bottle of Mepron...when I decide to take a break from the Rifampin...but I'm feeling something 'happening' the past 2-3 weeks with the Rifampin..so not wanting to interrupt just yet.

But, one bottle of Mepron won't 'do it'...it will be a challenge. I most likely won't be able to get another 3 bottles...or more .that I would need to fully treat.

My doc n i think it hits both ..and lymecysts ...even some papers on it being effective on viruses...its why herx is so intense..

I am taking doxy, rifampin, alinia and buhner herbs combo for bart, lyme and babesia. I am pulsing alinia and rifampin, both alternating with each other and doxy daily.

I've been pulsing Alinia, Diflucan, and Tetra 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off for awhile. My LLMD writes up the scripts for full time 30 days so I can "stretch" the Alinia cost a bit. There is a mfg coupon program that got my 30 day script down to only $10. For Alinia refill I pay Level 4 co-pay of $60.

Last month I expanded to 3 weeks off and this month I may try for 4 weeks off.

I keep on GSE, ACV, Astragulas, Hout, and JK plus full time. Doing OK at 85 to 90% well for almost a year.

Thanks for sharing your treatment protocol. I have been getting it from India, I visit there often. It is pretty cheap. I am pulsing with rifampin. I am also taking doxy everyday and slowly introducing Buhner herbs. I don't know how effective this combo will be!
