I had frequent urination most of my life until I got sick in 2009 with what I now know is chronic Lyme & co. I used to have to pee before I left the house. Go again as soon as I got to where I was going. You get the picture. I would frequently feel the urge but when I would go, I didn't urinate much.
When I got sick in 2009, my bladder habits changed. I started going long periods of time without urinating and wouldn't feel the urge until I was about
to wet my pants. When I urinated, it would be a lot. Many other things changed in my body, but that was one major change that has remained constant.
A year ago, I was diagnosed with CIRS from mold and also got a positive test for Lyme and erhlichia. I also had the HLA-DR genetic test done and found out I have a genetic susceptibility for biotoxins (any of them) and another gene for susceptibility to borrelia. Based on what I've since learned about
Lyme and coinfections, I realize I've had signs of Bartonella and possibly Babesia since early childhood. I believe I've been infected most of my life and that my immune system kept things in check until I had some trigger events in 2009.
I said all that to say this. I suspect that the frequent urination I experienced most of my life was the result of that genetic susceptibility to toxins. It was probably my body's way of struggling to get toxins out. When the Lyme went chronic in 2009, I'm guessing my body lost the ability to properly keep toxins out and infections in check. This is all a crude hypothesis, and I have no idea how plausible that explanation is.
I will say that in the past year as I've been treating myself with supplements and herbs and trying to detox, etc., there are times when I have more frequent urination. This time, though, a lot comes out. It isn't a false sense of urgency like I used to have. During these times, I feel like my body is dumping toxins and I sometimes feel slight pain when urinating (no UTI's).
