Hi there,
I have been under treatment with Dr L in Dublin since March 2017. He's been moving around different antibiotic protocols and currently I am on Ceftin 500mg 2x a day, Rifadin 300mg once a day & Zithromax 250mg only on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 2x a day..

I also take all my vitamin supplements, Tumeric, NAC, Wormwood, Cats Claw, Resveratol & of course good probiotic as recommended by Dr L.

I don't seem to herx off anything.. which I would consider lucky but I don't seem to show improvement either.. Obviously it's been 8 months or so now with no herx.. no improvement other than in the 'stretch marks' which have faded loads.

My initial symptoms at the end of 2013 was head pressure & off balance,, end of 2014 this became DEREALIZATION which has been 24/7 since..

Then slowly I got more physical & more psych symptoms..

I'm at a point now where I'm starting to feel a bit 'crazy'.. have weird vivid dreams like i'm not properly asleep, can't stay asleep for long.. fele weird.. and just feel so out of it all the time.. aswell as the MS type symptoms physically.

I want to know what more I can do to address this.

Obviously the Psych symptoms worry me the most and I start to think what if im getting Skitzophrenia etc.. the derealization is scary too.

I was hoping a few months in id see some improvement or at least a herx but nothing..

Welcome to our forum DJKWUK,
I'm glad you have found us but so very sorry you are having these symptoms and the escalation of some of them.

Others here have had intense vivid dreams , I believe this can be not only from infections but sometimes certain treatments as well.

about the herxing...I have seen here that some people do not herx. There might be older posts about that subject if you would like to do a search above, just always put Lyme in the search box first so it searches this forum.
I would suggest you and your llmd look into Stephen Buhners 2nd edition book"Healing Lyme" and see if the Neuroborreliosis protocol and also other suggestions he offers for specific symptoms may be of help.

I am also on houttuynia too recently started. Does anyone know how many drops to take and how long to see improvement?

I was just going to suggest Houtt. I'm up to 3 dropper-fulls twice a day (That's about 90 drops). I have a hard time taking tinctures 3 x per day, so I up the dose twice a day. I switched over to fresh leaf Houtt from Woodland Essence last April and I noticed more improvements. Just ramp up slowly... we all have different tolerance levels.

I also recommend Japanese Knotweed. WE has a JK Plus blend that includes Cat's Claw and other herbs recommended by Buhner. Sida Acuta is also good for Bart, but never really did anything for me.

Bartonella can be a stubborn infection .... but that is a long time to not have any symptom improvement.
How long have you been on the Rifadin?

Have you and your Dr. discussed Babesia? At some point, it may need to be addressed (if you continue not to have any improvement...only worsening)

As we've discussed many times before, it is very difficult to know when you have gone three months without symptoms before stopping treatment, especially when you don't know the symptom is from a current infection, or you just need more time to heal, or this is as good as it gets with permanent damage from the past infection(s).

Today I start my 4th week without my Rx ABX protocol. I have had a few minor occurrences of muscle twitching, and one flare-up of severe neuropathy in my right foot. Otherwise my neuropathy has been at steady low level which is acceptable after my many years of treatment. Next Monday I will do another two week ABX pulse and see what's next with my LLMD in November.

I agree with Girlie, may be a good time to switch to treating Babs for a while. There are a lot of overlapping sx to sort through.

Hi DJKWUK -

I'm so sorry you're dealing with these horrible sx... they are by far the worst for me. After starting abx for Lyme and then again for bart, I had the worst herxing for about two weeks - I would literally cycle from hour to hour through extreme psychological states of mind that would include paranoia, morose sadness, anxiety, depression, you name it... this went on 24-hrs a day and took about two wks to let up. The following week was better and the week after that was better.

Detoxing while you're treating is essential - particularly for GI and brain with the neuro-psych issues. Brain detox that many of us here are taking includes Nutramedix Pinella and Burbur tinctures.

It's also important to detox the GI - namely with gut binders. WIth the gut-brain connection in the blood vessels found, it's very easy for neurotoxins in the GI from everything we're killing and the byproducts of toxins and debris - to affect brain function.

By now, you should feel either herxing or improvement... it souds like you can increase detoxing - I would add in those I mentioned above, also think about doing body soaks, sauna or some heat-based tx, etc. And if you're still stagnant, I would talk w/ your LLMD about switching things up. You might do better switching to or increasing your herbal protocol. You might need to consider if your gut health needs repair before trying to ingest more meds/treatment. You might consider if you have a viral component that isn't being addressed. And you might also explore if another infection than what you're treating has become dominant.

Hi OP - I'm with Dr. L also on a similar course, with the inclusion of lymecycline. I also have horrid derealization/depersonalization, along with brain-fog, fatigue and muscle twitching.

Like you, I have no herx reactions.

I tested positive for lyme, but negative on all arminlabs tests for bartonella.
