I have a phone consult with my naturopath tomorrow and I am really dreading it.

When I had my initial consult I saw a lot of Lyme books on his shelf and thought he probably knew a thing or two about lyme. He tested me that day and when the results came back positive for EBV and Mycoplasma I thought I would trust his suggestions. He told me at the time that my lyme results might be a recent exposure, or my body not building up antibodies but we didnt need to worry about it. He proceeded to treat EBV.

When I couldn't tolerate his treatment for EBV he suggested to treat for lyme. His treatment? Cats claw capsules and systemic enzymes. That's it!

By this time I already had Buhners book, and most of the herbs needed for the protocol. In fact I had started it.

He pressured me into thos follow up, and it is tomorrow.

I havent taken cats claw or the enzymes. I dont trust his recommendations. I dont know how to politely tell him. I also dont know if I should keep him as part of my team..

He is also treating my daughter right now for recurrent diarrhea that once tested positive for s. Aureus. After a round of amoxicillin it went away, but has come back with a vengence and his tincture hasnt done a darn thing for her, and her last stool culture was negative.

I guess I'm just really frustrated that I cant find a worthwhile Dr. I've spent over $800 on worthless treatment from this one. The tincture he made for my daughter was $65! I just dont have the gumption to tell him I'm done because I know he means well, and he is trying. When do you give up on a Doc?

Sorry your LLND isn't working out for you.

You said you were taking Buhner's - why not the Cat's Claw then?
Have you just not started that particular herb yet?


It doesn't sound like he is working out. You do need to have confidence with your Lyme Dr. -

I have lost confidence in mine and it's a horrible feeling, I know.


I think it's time for you to look for another one. If that is your plan...then maybe cancelling tomorrow's appt is warranted - save the money for another LL Dr.

He isnt an LLND, thats probably part of the problem. The closest LLMD is 60 miles away, with a 6+ month wait for a $600 initial appointment. I just cant afford it. The others are 80+ miles away so I havent looked into them. I just was hoping he would work out, he was charging $40 an hour!

I am doing Buhners, and yes, havent started cats claw yet.

I'm thinking about a consult with a Buhner recommended herbalist but not sure if I really need to or not.

If you are feeling confident in Buhners protocol and prepared to see if it works for you then there is no reason you can't' do it yourself'. I know an llmd would be ideal, but if its not an option (its not for me either right now) then you could postpone the consult.....indefinitely if buhners works out or you find someone you do have confidence in??

Silly sheep,

That really is the most logical plan. I didnt cancel the apointment today so at 9 am he will call and so dont know what to say.

Part of me just really hates disappointing people, and I feel like I let him down...but I know its not like that.

You sound like me. After my last LLND appt. my husband told me to make another appointment and be firm with him....lol...and ask for what I want and say I'm disappointed in how he's been treating me lately (or lack of treatment) and explain why I'm not satisfied.

If NDs had prescribing rights in my state I think I would have something to ask for, but at this point I dont think he has anything to offer that I cant do for myself. I guess he can order tests, but I don't think I need any.
