Ughhh.... as if I don't have enough going on with the uterine fibroids that is going to require some surgery---not sure yet. And some dental work I know I need done and desperately trying to wrap up the IV abx for Lyme & Co treatment (will lose my insurance mid-Dec so scrambling to try to get all these procedures done.) And then I found out last week I have a basel cell carcinoma growth just under my eyelash line, lower eye lid.
I'm SO SO SO SO SO SO frustrated by this - not only by getting my first cancer dx, but because for the past 20 yrs I have not left the house or driven in a car w/out my black, wrap-around polarized sunglasses hugging my face. Of all the places, I had to get it on my face.
I'm having a Moh's procedure done, which should give me a better chance for full removal. But the growth is large - even though I caught it relatively early. The reconstructive surgery is what worries me. Sounds worse than the removal.
They're going to remove so much flesh that they might have to insert a prosthetic for the tear duct - and will have to piece together the eye lid so it will pull on the outer area of my eye. If I were 80 with a bunch of loose skin, this might actually look like a good eye lift. Unfortunately, for me it will look disfigured.
I know it could be worse in many different ways - I could have a growth on my eyeball instead. But right now, I'm just emerging from the denial stage that I couldn't possibly have cancer because of how much I hide from the sun... and now in the pissed off - complaining - feeling sorry for myself stage. I haven't really processed it yet.
Anyway, regardless of the fact that I really don't spend time in the sun, I was told that 96% of people end up with more skin cancer after the 1st dx so that plus my very fair skin, living in SoCal means I'm really anxious about
it. I will be getting an all-body scan so at least there is that. Once upon a time you couldn't do that kind of analysis.
This guy shows up right after I nearly killed myself (exaggerating) by taking too high doses of antibiofilm too quickly. This was at the beginning of the year and I made myself VERY sick - bronchitis and sinusitis and a month or two later I noticed a considerable change in my body. I had a little bit of gray hair growing in but twice that now, my skin lost some collagen, and other results in the body that MIGHT be a reduction in infamation or a loss of collagen - not sure. Anyway, I have this voice in the back of my head wondering if this skin cancer was also the result of the unintended sudden release of a bunch of oxidents and free radicals and pathogens and what-have-you that I couldn't detox fast enough...
Anyway, now I'm even more paranoid about
a sunscreen... which getting back to the post - looking for suggestions.
I have yet to find a natural product for the face that isn't oily or greasy. "They" say that zinc oxide is the best screen and that other "natural" ingredients used in its place are not as effective and they can be damaging to the skin if not toxic. But I don't need zinc oxide as a daily sunscreen, nor do I want my face to glow in the dark.
I LOVE KissMyFace products - they used to have an oatmeal based face sunscreen but dropped it - it was the only sunscreen I could find that blended in like a quality moisturizer. This is a very frustrating issue for me because I end up going without and just hiding under a hat, which is not always effective (not in SoCal). Nothing's worse than a greasy face. Plus, it always ends up in my eyes.
I found the following list - looks interesting. Anyone use any of these products?
