3HumpedCamel,
First of all, I'm delighted to hear that you and your husband are doing really well. Looking back, I'm ashamed of how much I took my health for granted for so many years. Although my health was never "perfect," there were few things I couldn't do. Being unwell has been incredibly humbling.
Next, regarding the Hansa Center, I've been in touch with them, but have been hesitant to pull the trigger and go for an in-person visit. Last summer, I actually completed their intake paperwork and Dr. Jernigan reviewed it. Based on what I wrote, he felt there was a chance they might be able to help me.
(For anyone else reading this, the Hansa Center doesn't automatically accept everyone as a patient. Potential patients complete a detailed intake form, Dr. Jernigan reviews it, and tries to assess whether or not the clinic might be able to help the patient. If he feels there's a low likelihood, the Hansa Center will work to find another doctor or clinic that can.)
Well, a few weeks back, I contacted the Hansa Center again, to see if there were any price changes and to check their schedule. Since it had been a while since I completed the intake paperwork, they sent me an updated copy and asked me to complete it. But, since then, I've been dragging my feet about
it.
I've been trying to understand why, because my doing nothing isn't getting me where I want to be. Certainly, it's not cheap. Although I quit my job in January and remain intentionally unemployed, I *had* planned to visit Hansa and spend the money. But, again, I've been hesitating.
Now, I think the main two reasons why are:
1. If they can't help me, I will have "wasted" about
$15,000 (clinic, travel, food, hotel, supplements, etc.)
2. I believe homeopathy is a large part of their treatments. No homeopathy has EVER worked for me.
There are a few reasons I started considering the Hansa Center. Mostly, it was due to the inspiring posts by Heathersdad and Deejavu.
Because of them, I read about
Dr. Jernigan, read his blog, subscribed to his newsletter, watched his YouTube videos, and listened to the various podcasts where he appeared. His approach of restoring optimum function to the body (as much as possible) so that the body can heal itself (again, as much as possible) sounded more appealing than trying to carpet bomb individual components in the body with pharmaceuticals, as testing is neither perfect nor all-encompassing. I'm not against using pharmaceuticals, but I think the body - if able to function closer to optimal - has more innate wisdom and ability.
So, in light of your experience, plus what I've written, have you any words of wisdom?
While writing such a large check may cause me to go into shock and/or have explosive diarrhea, I don't mind spending the money, provided I gain significant benefit. But, again, the homeopathy angle concerns me, assuming I'm even correct about
its use.
Thank you for the consideration.
