I have a 2 yo who we found an embedded tick on. Her pediatrician placed her on 28 days of Ceftin, 9 days after tick was found. Tick was tested and was found to be positive for Lyme, no co-infection identified.
My daughter did not have any symptoms or the classic EM. She was coming down with a cough which she still has. However day four of abx and she has a mild temp 99-101, clingy, tired and fatigued. No symptoms prior to raking medication (other than cough). I am only assuming this is the result of a virus or Lyme as she is on abx. Anyone think this is Lyme causing the symptoms???? Also is the length of treatment adaquate??? So nervous and scared my daughter will have to live the rest of her life with this.
Hi Nicole, welcome!
Yes those symptoms are from the Lyme infection. Sounds like she is herxing.
The treatment must be continued until symptom free PLUS 4-8 weeks more.
I suggest you schedule an appt. with a LLMD a.s.a.p. and try and get her in prior to the abx running out.
Tickbite666 sent you an email...hopefully you can get an appt. right away so there isn't a break in the antibiotics.
This was caught right away...when treatment is effective. But, she must not stop abx before symptoms have abated.
What can be done now - is having your daughter detox. Make sure she is drinking lots of water. She needs to be taking probiotics every day (a couple hours away from the antibiotics)
She should also take a liver support supplement. Milk Thistle Seed extract is a popular one.
Here are some other detox ideas....detoxing will help alleviate the symptoms.
- Warm epsom salt baths
- Dry brush her skin prior to the baths
- Add some lemon juice (fresh) into some of the water she's drinking
Here's a link to a website with many detoxing ideas. You will want to start only a couple right away, then ever few days, add in another one.
