Girlie,
Yes correct were were just treating high risk bite... no signs or symptoms were present.
Day 4/5 into treatment she is when she started with the previously mentioned symptoms.
She is too young for doxycycline and is allergic to amp so her treatment options are limited.
She is on day 7 today with 21 more days to go.
I do have her on “raw” brand refrigerated probiotics as well as flora stir (? Sp).
I will call her doctor this AM. Also I think I will bring in a stool sample.
What are your thoughts on other effective abx for treatment of tick bite in young child?? Because I have only seen research relating to the 3 I mentioned above.
Thank you for all of you insight.
Yes, you're right, doxy isn't recommended for very young children.
So Amp is ampicillin?
I guess she'd be allergic to all in that class? Amoxy included.
Sorry - it may be more difficult than I thought to find an alternative.
The macrolide class isn't prescribed for younger children either.
Please let us know what the Dr. says...maybe he's seen that orange color before...and has a reason for it..maybe she will be able to continue the Ceftin.
The other option is maybe a different Cephalosporin? Like Omnicef? Same class, but different generation.
There are herbal treatments...but since it's caught early...I hope that she can get treated with an effective antibiotic.
