I am a she Girlie lol.
OMG, i would love to be 5ft 4", being 4ft 11" is like being a borrower ha ha.
Yes, i attract taller men, which is good because i don't think i could see myself going out with someone my size and feeling like i was back in primary school smile
There are some advantages...i used to be able to get to a crowded bar quickly and scrum through the crowd and i also have been known to buy childrens clothes in salessmile

I wasn't born premature, but my son was. almost 33 weeks - but quite large - just over 5 lbs.

He was in the preemie ward for two weeks...had to be gavage fed. 4 lbs 11 oz when discharged.

The health issue (I've mentioned before) was Celiac disease...that went undiagnosed for many years. He started to have obvious symptoms around 4 or 5 years old...of iron deficiency...it was about 9 years before diagnosed.

He is 6 ft tall...and quite healthy considering. Rarely missed a day of school, and now rarely misses work due to illness. He had some issues with the undiagnosed Celiac but overall...is doing very well now.

Dave - 35 weeks isn't that early, really. Were you breast-fed? That's the one thing I feel bad about...but our son didn't have the strength to properly 'suck'. That's where babies get some of their life-long immunity.

What's wrong with 5'10" - I don't consider that to be short for a man?

Are you a "she "or a "he" ?

If you're female - that's not too bad. I have a childhood friend (female) who is 5'1" and for some reason tall men seemed to be attracted to her. Her two serious relationships - the men were both over 6' tall.

My husband is just under 6'3" and he considers me short - I'm just under 5'5". I'm not short!!!!

I am only 4ft 11 and always been normal weight. I had pericarditis late teens and problems running due to tight tendons, but the drastic increase in social anxiety has been one of my main problems! I have always been outgoing, proactive and before being bitten ran my own businesses...now i cant even go further than the front door at times and am constantly OCD and trying to resolve mental and physical highs and lows...that little tick has a lot to answer to!

WOW!!! I'm 4'11" also. You're the only person I know of the same height as me. My mother is 5'1 1/2", but I'm the only real runt on either side of the family.

So sorry about the way that doctor treated you. I would have reported him to the AMA.

My mom is 4'10 I think that's an inch away from being legally considered a "little person". One inch away from getting all the good parking spots, drats!

My dad is 5'2. I miraculously became 5'7. Still short but from what my genes were working with incredible.

I have an auntie who is 4ft 10....my concern is if you shrink by around 2 inches in old age, i may need to get a foldable stool for everyday shoppingsmile

Hey Girlie- I know 35 weeks isn't that early.  In my mind, I'd be healthy and wouldn't have of the stuff I have now- genetically and/or physically in terms of health or chronic injuries if I was more healthy as a baby.  It's also the weight, we were under 3 lbs.  Not sure if that plays a role in anything.  It might?  5'10 isn't short for a guy, it's also not tall.  I have a mental block/insecurity where I must be over 6 feet tall in order for women to find me more attractive.  Mind you, all of this isn't logical, I'm in therapy now with a great therapist to work on these issues. 

 

I've attached a picture of me so everyone can see that premies, no matter what size or age at birth can become ok!

You asked, so here it comes.....yes some of your logic is warped. Well...with your body size ideas. Body size is not illness at 5-10. If you stand in a crowd in the USA for example, 5-10 is taller than average. I have size 13 feet....it sucks as most stores stop at 12. XL gloves are still too short. (I live in the North). And I'm only 6ft, not huge. Some cars dont fit, foot gets stuck on the gas pedal under dash parts, roof too low. The only advantage to being bigger is for pro team sports. Most of the world was made for ....5-6 to 5-8.

Genetics does makes a difference depending on which gene defects. But you can learn from 23and Me testimng too.

Thanks Astro- what part of the north do you live in? You're right, it's pretty warped. Not all of it, but a lot of the logic is. We're not too far off- height wise. It's my way of looking at things, take relationships. Youtubing and researching "what women find attractive" or asking my female friends isn't the best idea in terms of what people find attractive. Is there a general sense of what women find attractive in men, yes. But it depends on the woman, the area, their age, preferences, etc. Anyway, my point is it doesn't matter what women want, it's only important what I want and the right woman will love me for me.

I have my 23andme results, I've had it done for a few years. I just need a way to understand and interpret the raw data.

NW side of the Great Lakes (and its snowing hard right now, I already miss summer LOL). What women find attractive more than anything is confidence, (insides) which comes in many sizes. And too much is not a good thing (A/holes); not for long term. To many guys concentrate on what they dont have. What attracts for short term, (lots more than just height)is not necessarily the same as what some want for long term either. The older you get, and more experienced with a variety of women, this will become more obvious. There will always be "that girl" with "that guy" and it wont make sense on the surface to onlookers. Also remember.....life is more than relationships. Dont just want to "be with someone" just for the sake of that alone, ignore popular peer pressure.

The free 23and me interpretations dont tell much. You get what you pay for. Mine was $50 and 40 pages worth. There were two things in there that to know them is a lifesaver. We all have imperfections...........some that can kill you too. I would have never known of these till it was possibly too late prior to proper 23/me data explanation.

It definitely depends on the woman re: what's attractive. My short friend - her two serious relationships were with men over 6' tall. But, she doesn't even look for tall guys...it just happens. (if that makes sense.)

And me - if you look at my history - the height ranges. My first serious relationship - 5'9" and my husband is 6'2 1/2".


BTW - as far as health and being premature....it depends. Did you have any complications when you were born? Were you on a ventilator...did you have any health issues?

Our son didn't need a ventilator...just an oxygen mask for a few days.
His main issue was no strength to suck - so had to be gavage fed. He was formula fed, so didn't get the early nutrients that newborns get when breast-feeding.

Astro- you're right, it's not always obvious when you're younger but it definitely appears moreso as you grow older and experience more relationships.  Which 23andme report are you referring to?  I got my 23anndme initial analysis I think it was 200 bucks.  Can you refer me to the link please?

Girlie- true!  I don't think she was "looking" for tall guys.  I don' t know if we were on a ventilator or not or if we had any health complications, I know we were in the NICU for about a month.  maybe an oxygen mask, not sure?  My mom did give us plenty of nutrition and breast fed us every 2 hours!

Yah, at 35 weeks - babies don't usually need ventilators...and have enough sucking power to breast-feed.

That's the one thing that still bothers me today - is my son never got the breast milk.

Sounds like you had a great start to life.

My 23andMe was $100 three years ago (raw data only). I think that went up to $200, thats what you have?

A past GF I had high hopes for (outdoorsy and super cute) was pretty low on the vertical scale too at 5 foot. Being 1 ft taller, communication wasn't so great LOL. She was straight forward but low volume, and a foot lower. Hey,... I tried to listen, just couldn't hear her in public half the time. I say this jokingly, but it was a problem some times.
