Cold sores/cankor sores = HSV-1 (or oral herpes)
Most adults (something like 80+%) have this virus; if you're asymptomatic your immune system has made it dormant so the virus generally hides out in a latent state in the neurons around the spinal cord, then travels to wherever your cold sores/cankor sores show up.
When the HSV-1 rears its ugly head and presents as sores, it means your immune system is struggling because your body is run down. This is this a signal to you to do what you need to do to suppress the virus to lessen the load on the immune system so that it can do what it needs to do to protect you from other opportunistic pathogens and keep up the good fight against Lyme & Co. For me, this also meant I need to slow down, get more rest, eat better. De-stress. This won't go away on its own.
There are good natural antivirals you can try - nothing "kills" the virus - it just forces it to go dormant, be less expressive:
Lysine
Olive leaf
Oil of oregano
Licorice
Houttuynia
Ginger
Chinese Skullcap
Astragalus
(there are many other herbs that have anti-viral properties)
Provocation Neutralization
