My brother finally started taking the antibiotics 2 weeks now they starting him out with a low dose . No side effects so far. His neurologist says he may have both als and Lyme. It's a time will tell situation.

Is your brother seeing a LLMD?

I suggest you get him to an experienced LLMD - one who can prescribe IV abx.

Something has caused his als symptoms - my vote is Lyme

The neurologist and the infectious disease spoke and feel starting him out with a low does is best , the ID doctor will increase it every 2 weeks . Not sure if his is going to go to a LLMD . This is the way he wants to do it .I'm just glad he started taking the antibiotics.i don't want to push him , it was hard enough to get him to do this.

Okay - but if they stop treating him after a few weeks - then he will need to pursue a LLMD .
Unless the ID doc and neurologist are lyme Literate - it's not likely they will treat him long enough. And he will need more than one antibiotic at a time.

Okay - Does he have a good detox regimen in place? During treatment the die-off of bacteria and resulting symptoms can be debilitating.
Detoxing regularly - multiple methods will help limit the severity of the herxes.
