Hi Alunke82 -
We all have a little yeast and fungus in our bodies - just like we have (a lot) of bacteria. But you should not have yeast/fungus overgrowth. If you have significant yeast/fungus overgrowth, you definitely need to treat it to get the overgrowth levels reduced. It can cause many of the same issues that Lyme & Co can cause, which makes it very difficult to treat Lyme & Co because your reactions to antimicrobials and detoxing can be confusing if you don't know whether they are caused by the Lyme & Co or the yeast/fungus.
Yeast/fungus tests aren't very reliable - it might be easier to go by your symptoms - please reference the LAST post in the "New to Lyme?" thread at the top of the page - it has a list of common yeast/fungus symptoms that can help determine if this is a problem for you. It also has treatment suggestions you can talk w/ your LLMD about
.
Hope this is helpful -
