Hi
I'm getting crazy twinges below my ribs ,is it Bart playing up?
I have a hernia( crazy at 55) recently diagnosed, but this discomfort is weird
Feel very tender and hot
Any suggestions?!?

Your spleen is on that side. It wouldn't be uncommon for someone with lyme / EBV to have a swollen spleen. I have the same pains and was checked out at acute care, but the doc said my spleen was normal. I was in the ER yesterday and they incidentally found that my spleen is enlarged when they did a CT for something else.

HI Lila,

I have had sporadic rib pain for the last few years. Sometimes it feels like it's on the underside of my rib and can ache quite a bit. Not exactly sure what is causing it but I am being treat for Bart, Lyme and babesia.

Thanks for those suggestions.
Spleen sounds a bit scary,l didn't realise it could affect organs as well as the headaches skin and mood/ stress stuff.
Is there any treatment for the spleen.?!
Aurora- are you on antibiotics and herbals too? Is it helping? I need to see my GP and beg for some antibiotics but the tests came back negative ( UK) so am not sure they'll prescribe...

I have been treating aggressively for the last 4.5 years with antibiotics and a few herbals interspersed simultaneously with the antibiotics. I have made it to about 60/65 percent but still have a great deal of painful neurological issues. I have just changed doctors and I am trying to switch to herbals but it is not easy for me as my neuropathy rages when cutting back on the antibiotics. As a result I am missing quite a bit of work. Have you thought about possibly having blood work done at another lab? I have heard that there is one in California that is more accurate than the standard tests endorsed by the cdc/IDSA. It's been a difficult battle to be sure thus far but I am hopeful that I can continue to heal. I truly hope you are able to find a go who will treat you sooner than later and please keep fighting the good fight!

Yes, lyme can definitely affect your organs -- heart, spleen, liver are ones I have heard the most about. The doctors at the ER I was at were not particularly concerned about my spleen. I have read about Buhner herbs that are spleen protecting, but I don't take any.

Oh my, this is a long fight then
I have the name of a Llmd in the UK and also it's been suggested I have blood tests done in Germany ( by a UK based Lyme support group).
I will start researching the herbs and antibiotics protocols,and aim to see the Llmd early next year.

Lila, please don't feel isolated. We're always here to lend a kind ear, offer suggestions when we can and support when we can't.

I, too, have had this intermittent pain under my left rib. I mentioned it to my LLMD early on and he was not overly concerned. I have had a full blood panel done (several, at this point), and I'm sure your doctor will check on basic blood and metabolic functions when you see him/her.

Do know that the tests for Lyme and co-infections can be quite unreliable. I tested negative for Babesia, but had the classic symptoms. It wasn't until I treated for Babesia that I began to make any progress. So, finding a good LLMD is an important first step (along with your own building your own knowledge and understanding).

Try a colonic or two.
I had pain there for weeks ended up in er-my doc suggest colonics and I did one today. Seems
like it helped greatly
