Can a herxheimer reaction kill you?

You know, since the last time i suffocated and couldn't catch my breath and had to get into a fight with my father, i'm seriously thinking about if i need to take abx. Can a severe herx kill you? Are there any documented cases?

Yes, but i've seen somewhere someone saying that herx, like mine, could be so severe that it basically is an anaphylactic shock. So..

I now read, sorry. It says the inflammatory response from a herx reaction isn't as big as from an ebola infection, so that's why you won't die. But it pointed to that it might happen. But anyway, i don't have a choice, i'll take abx but with lots of detox. Just makes me sad that its so hard on the body and so expensive with all these seemingly at first irrelevant little supplements.

I have a little white coat on my tongue suggesting Candida. Do a lot of you have candida and if you do, how i'm supposed to take abx for lyme and also treat candida at the same time?

Nasty thing about Lyme is that it can make you FEEL like you’re dying. The anxiety, uncertainty, horrible new symptoms, especially the heart palpitations and air hunger, make you think you’re killing yourself with antibiotics or having a heart attack.
You’re going to survive. Stick with the treatment.

Very very large amounts of probiotics are necessary , 2 hours away from antibiotics (I take my abx with breakfast and dinner and probx with lunch and before bed). Most probx from the store are 5 billion to 30 billion CFU’s (live cultures). I take 200 billion a day. So you need to get a very powerful one that you can take only 2-3 a day instead of 10, maybe your doctor can recommend a local brand- I buy mine online or get from my doctor.

To help Candida you can drink probiotics like kefir- the probiotic sits in your mouth to combat the yeast. Or if your probiotic comes in a powder form in a capsule, break open the capsule and dump it on your tongue. Or mix with yogurt if you don’t like the taste.

This is necessary the whole time you’re on antibiotics but if Candida still doesn’t go away, you may need a prescription for it like Diflucan to take for a week or two.

Yes, I believe you can die from a herx...but it's NOT common.
Letting a herx go uncontrolled doesn't do anyone any good.
Do what you can to alleviate it...



I know someone who did. (or it's now thought that's what happened) This was many, many years ago - in the 1960's.

She was sick for a long time and in a wheelchair - they finally diagnosed her with Lyme disease and admitted her to hospital for treatment.
She died the next morning.

It was a friend of mine's husband's mother.

I would say anything can kill you, but I think the odds of dying from not treating Lyme are higher than dying from a herx.
