Frequent urination - diabetes?

I have type 1 diabetes.

My first symptoms were increased urination.

I also lost a ton of weight.

But, I did not have lyme when I got diagnosed with type 1.

Alot of my symptoms of diabetes before I was diagnosed were a little like lyme...fatigued muscles, rapid weight loss, exhaustion, frequent infections, yeast infections, blurry eye sight, and frequent urination but quickly cleared up as soon as I got on insulin and my blood sugar was stable...within a few days I was feeling better. I have these symptoms again, from lyme, that do not go away with great blood sugars so I know they are lyme related. They are also so much more severe than when I was diagnosed with diabetes. Plus when I got these symptoms from diabetes, my blood sugar was 750 not 100.

Definitely bring it up to your dr, but a blood sugar of 100 is normal. It can fluctuate and one point is not a cause for concern. Now if you had a fasting blood sugar of say 150 or higher, I'd say yep, get that checked right away.

I do drink a ton of water now to detox and mostly have lemon in it which will make me need to pee more often. Also, I do get up a ton to go at night, but it is from the detoxing not the diabetes.

Also, I noticed that I do go through periods of urgency since getting lyme. It was one of my first symptoms. Since I had already had type 1 for 18 years at that point, I knew it wasn't from that.

Always, always, check with your dr if you feel something is off, but don't freak yourself out over a 100 blood sugar while you wait to see your dr.

If you are really concerned you can get a blood sugar monitor and 10 strips at the pharmacy for about 10 or 15 dollars and check your blood sugar when you get up in the morning, before you eat. You might need to ask the pharmacist about the monitors that come with some strips inexpensively. I have bought ones at rite aid and cvs, to keep in my purse in case I forget to take my regular monitor with me when I go out. If you go that route, don't forget to get a lancet device too, your gonna need to pick your finger with that to do the test.

Chris, I was experiencing pre-diabetes range, 100-upper teens fasting. I buy the low cost meter kits as decribed by joee, walmart has one that does 50 samples for $30 or so. Betweeen them and cvs there are afordable blood test kits.

I wrote a post/update on this but cant find it at the moment. I tested 75 (yippie yahoo) not long ago, so that was a major improvment. I dont eat a diabetic diet but mostly paleo, so it is healthy. Eat fruit separate or before meals, not after. Red meat will double the natural sugar in your blood- I read that and proved it on my own.

Lyme can mess up the complete endocrine system. Adrenal heath directly influences blood sugar too. My history of both also confirmed this. After abx treatment, I improved adrenals and sugar went down. This is goggle-able.

Before abx and adrenal correction efforts, exercise and food would not lower my blood sugar. Endo Dr said I would be diabetic in a few years. Wrong.

I've been noticing extreme thirst since around Christmas. I even wake up in the middle of the night thirsty. I was off antibiox at the time and felt better when I cleaned up my diet (no grains, no cow dairy). I went back on rifampin 1/1 and within a weak had white gunk on my tongue and the thirst back. I'm trying to stick it out hoping this is my last round of antibiox.

Last year I tested 6 (prediabetic) with the A1C diabetes test. First time ever. I had no thirst or urination issues and no weight loss. Last fall after treating and cleaning up diet, I was down to 5.6.

I read that lyme can play with your diabetes markers. I would definitely get it checked but you can work on your diet in the meantime.
