Funny Lyme brain / fatigue stories

Well, this wasn't really a funny story...but it was a result of my lyme brain.

I drove my car for a couple of months without insurance. Yup...when the notification came in the mail..I filed it away with my paid bills.

I had never done that before.

Good think I didn't have an accident.

Girlie I'll up you one, Lyme brain caused me to forget to renew my driver's license, insurance and vehicle registration.


Got pulled over, car towed, and off to court.


It's all cleared up now, but that wasn't a fun time.

Oh wow....yes, your story trumps mine. We can laugh now ????

Thing is, I was embarrassed about it ...took me awhile to even tell my husband.

Doing something out of the ordinary was traumatic for me and I would break down and cry. Being a perfectionist it was extremely! hard for me to have a less than optimal brain.

I finally had to let go and be doopey (or as my sweet husband put it "on the short bus for awhile"). It was a period of my life that taught me compassion and patience. I was humbled immensely and found absolutely nothing funny about it.

We tried to joke about it, but I generally was in tears just trying to complete a sentence. I was an awesome chef and suddenly I had to try and read a recipe. I could not remember. I was a bookkeeper and I had to run totals 3 times on tape to ensure I was right.

However I guess it was funny when I drove right past the restaurant that the entire family was going to have brunch and they stood there watching me drive by. I did a U-turn and arrived with red eyes from crying Again.

Thanks for sharing, everyone! I definitely sympathize. And yes, they're not always funny, but sad, especially at the time...

• Hmm, buying a broken piano to begin with..... (I'm getting a good one, there's this other one, it'll fit in the truck, why not! make a few bucks on it)
  
  
• Standing in the bathroom for a good 10+ minutes looking at my bleeding thumb, cut in a kitchen mishap....after rinsing it off, I couldn't think what else I should be doing....

Great thread! So good to laugh about this stuff! And to know I’m not alone ...

I thought I was the only one who could forget to renew their drivers license ! - went 2 + years without an issue until I got pulled over while parked in a wawa parking lot for a busted taillight. It was a Big deal. They confiscated my license & made me call a friend to drive my truck home..my dog & I waited for hours till my ride came.. Ugh. Still haven’t straightened it all out....

I’m not sure which is worse, that I forgot to renew for SO long , or that I probably would’ve been long gone from the parking lot before the cop was there if I didn’t have Lyme- I had managed to drive there& was too exhausted to go straight in. I was gathering my energy ( and talking to my dog) when the cop got me...luckily he was a dog lover, so things didn’t go as bad as they could’ve...

In fact, I’ve had quite a few run ins with the law while sitting in my truck eaither before or after going into a store. I’d be so exhausted & in pain that I literally couldn’t move . I’d have to rest for awhile - before I could go in & especially after running my errand. Sometimes I’d have to stop & rest mid-drive also ...

I guess people thought I was breaking the law by sleeping or just resting in my car. Then they’d call the cops. I almost always take at least one dog with me everywhere I go, so the cops kept asking if I was living in my truck ... once they made me do a sobriety test. I could barely move ( or think) & im trying to prove I’m sober ...

I hadn’t been diagnosed yet. So i had no idea what was going on. It is only funny to me now that I’m telling you guys. Actually quite a relief to be able to laugh about it - you guys probably just saved me from years of therapy...

Ha....yesterday after looking at this and posting, I tried to go down to the gym to (carefully) do my self-paced therapy. Several times had that nagging feeling I was forgetting something.... well, I was. Several times!

It's still kind of foggy and I'm not sure how many times I failed, but here are some of the happenings -

Got there and halfway across the parking lot, checked my phone for calendar to make sure I had enough time for the next appointment - oh, actually my next appointment is....right now....Got that mixed up, didn't I ... guess I'll come back later.

At one point I got in the building, but I think I had left my contact lens case in the car.....
Then realized I came without my towel. Got everything else in the bag but not the towel. Went home, I think at that point I laid down on the couch for a while.

After finally getting my exercise, I changed out, showered and .....discovered I had left my street clothes out in the locker (not in the shower room with me).

hoooo.......

When I was in my sophmore year of college, I took a acting/Improv elective. Inwas always good before Lyme at improve. Well that all but changed. The failed, inattentive improv wasn't the worst part.

During one exercise I had to listen to a partner tell a a funny story about himself to me. I then had to act that out on stage. This was a time where I had neuroborreliosis and did not know it, so you could have just thrown me in the grave at this point. My thinking and concentration capacity was nil. The story went on for 10mins and I forgot all of it. Everyone before me did well, acting out their partners story.

Feeling lightheaded I got up on stage and literally just ran around, doing god knows what. Felt like I was mentally insane. After it was over, the teacher asked my partner if I acted out his story accuratly. He said, " none of what he did had anything to do with my story in the slightest bit."

I took my car in for state inspection 2 months EARLY .... and the same week I missed
my first ever credit card payment. Anyone want to do my income taxes? UGH

Purrsiankitty - It takes me forever to do my taxes. I have the adding machine...and I keep getting different totals...then my nerves get ramped up...and I'm done.

Pick it up the next day...and it's like starting all over again...



My medical expenses for 2016 were deferred to this year, as there wasn't enough to benefit me.
Now, I'm hoping I can figure out what's in the file from over a year ago.
