I've gotten my bartonella load down and now my lyme is kicking in. My biggest issue is lyme arthritis. I've decided to add teasel root into my treatment regime. Could anyone please direct me on which brands are best for a decent price? I don't want to spend too little and get crap and spend too much when it's unnecessary. Thank you!

Hello Hopenheal,

This guy's teasel root (http://hisgoodherbs.com/) is supposed to be really good, but I'm not sure if it has been mechanically imprinted to treat specifically Lyme dz and the coinfections. I don't know of any teasel root, other than this one, that has this additional benefit. You'll have to call the guy and find out. Either way, this brand has been known to be very good, with or without the mechanical imprint. Just follow his link (further down the page on the Right side) to his ebay site where he sells it.

One other thing, go SLOW with it. You may want to try starting with 1 drop per day for 5 days, then go to 1 drop 2x per day for 5 days. Keep this pattern until you get to 15 drops 2x per day. Also, if you start to Herx., DO NOT increase the dose. Stay at the same dose until your are through the Herx. Additionally, if you do take this supplement, take it away from other medications, supplements, food, and beverages, with exception to a little bit of water if you want. Also do you know of anything besides pain meds to help with the arthritis pain?

Besides trying Epsom Salt Baths, see the folowing below.

Also, be sure to look up side effect for any supplement as well. Most of the time they are okay, even if they have some side effects listed, but you want to be sure that they don't interact with any of your current medications or other health conditions. Be sure to buy good quality supplements because all supplements ARE NOT the same. Basically, I would avoid anything from convenience stores (CVS, Walgreens, etc.), SAM's Club, Grocery stores, GNC, and especially Amazon (you can never know if people are 3D-labeling, selling expired products, etc. on this site). Whole Foods and herbal shops are your best bet. They also sell online as well.


Olive Leaf Extract
Turmeric
Boswellia
Magnesium glycinate (if your are experiencing muscle cramping, but usually is good taking either way)
Fish Oil (for inflammation)
Constitutional Hydrotherapy (and other hydrotherapies)
Acupuncture
There's others, but this may be a good start for you.

May want to avoid foods such as:

Gluten
Dairy
Nightshades (peppers, eggplant, potatoes, tomatoes)
Corn
Soy
Processed Sugars
Simple Carbohydrates
Minimize the amount of Meats that you eat (they tend to be inflammatory to the body. If you do eat them, be sure they are Organically raised animals, free-range, hormone-free antibiotic free).

If you haven't already, consider going to all Organic Foods (minimize the processed foods and all the garbage chemicals in conventional foods).

Have you tried anti-inflammation herbs? I use turmeric, and ginger only now, but when I first started out I needed the extra benefit provided by bromelain as well. It does take a while for enough inflammation to go down to make a lot of difference, but I have encouraged many people in my own family to try it and they have stayed with it. My hubby can't use any arthritis or pain meds, so turmeric is his only option and it helps him - and my Mom has chosen to not use arthritis meds any more and moved over to turmeric as well. Both have diagnosis of osteoarthritis, and both have had to have knees replaced due to it.

There is a list of companies in the "New to Lyme?" thread that others in this community have had good success with and have had good experience with the companies. I would also encourage you to check those out.

Thank you traveler. It's only really just started to bother me this week. I've been researching but there are so many options. They started to swell in the morning as well. I have a toddler so I use my hands all day. I'm not into pain meds and would like to use natural. I'll try what you suggested for and check out the companies suggested as well. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it!

Smhse thank you as well. The food list will help I'm so glad you posted about that. That was my next researching venture. I've been on a pretty strict diet but have introduced more since I was losing too much weight. No sugar though. I'll definitely check out the fish oil as well for inflammation. I'll try one if it doesn't work I'll move on. Great list thank you again!

I was thinking of starting the Teasel root after talking about it with my Dr. in february. A local store here in Needham, ma stocks the Teasel root from this place in Maine and I guess a lot of people are liking it.
First I heard about it. This shop looks cool and has a lot of Lyme specific mixtures ,if you will, to purchase.

I use teasel tincture from Mountain Rose herbs. It seems to work the best of any I've tried.
