Shortness of Breath constantly (medication issue or Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella, Mycoplasm p.)?

I have had shortness of breath for the last 7 weeks. It started with an extreme internal shakiness. I'm not mentally anxious, but it does cause a weird sensation in my body. The breathing issue is the worst, but I have a number of other symptoms, such as P.O.T.S, head pressure, etc.. Part of it I believe to be caused by acid reflux, which makes it difficult to increase my abx to the level that I'm supposed to be taking.

This breathing issue is terrible. The only thing that my doctor has me on at this point is Cefdinir (Omecif). Did have some reactions to other abx, but not sure if it was because of the acid reflux or some other issue.

Wondering, has anyone else had the breathing issue when on abx? Did you switch to Mepron and treat Babesia thinking it was the issue? Did your breathing issue get worse, or did you go slow with it until you could handle a full dose? How long did it take you to get better if you experienced this issue?

Also, if you experienced acid reflux that caused breathing issues, what did you do for it that worked to stop it?

I was just referring to the breathing with regard to the acid reflux. The other sxs were just others that I am experiencing. I'm hoping that my new LLMD will start me on Babesia treatment, if that's what he thinks is contributing to it. I know that Babesia can cause air hunger, as well as contribute to acid reflux, along with Bartonella, and even Lyme dz. This stuff is all so tricky.

Before I was dx with Lyme and company I was constantly treating breathing issues, bronchitis etc with nebuluzer and inhalers.

I found that heartburn esp at night was aggravating my breathing and the Dr at that time confirmed that acid reflux will cause breathing probs and even asthma attacks for some.

I haven’t had any breathing problems since I started treating with my LLMD. They stopped about 4 months in for me.

Interesting, VCL. I wonder if that's why I was diagnosed with sleep apnea...at the same time I had a lot of phlegm in the back of my throat....

Remind me - what was your treatment (first 4 months) ? Was it for Babesia?

Girlie I started off with Azith, rifampin, plaq and nystatin.

I dodged the Babs bullet.

Another interesting thing was that the melatonin was the fix for both mine and my husbands acid reflux.

How much melatonin do you take each night VCL?

Girlie, the melatonin acts in multiple ways, but I'm not exactly sure if it's completely known why. It does have an acid blocking component to it, but there are other reasons why it can work. A couple of small studies show that if taken for 40 days, it may stop acid reflux or greatly reduce it.

I don't have the issues I did have a few years ago...just now and then I have the phlegm in the back of my throat...I'm not waking up in the night gasping for air anymore...but there may still be a little 'something' there.

I understand what you’re saying. I hate that choking phlegm monster.

I’ve decided that I’ll take all the sleep stuff my Dr has recommended until I’m at the better end of treatment. I find I do much better when I get the good 8 hours of sleep. I’ll wean off slow later.

I believe that several members have found relief by using D-limonene, although I use ginger and a ginger "syrup" that I make.
