Anyone using modified citrus pectin for detox?

Didnt know the pectin came in capsules.

I only know/use D-Limonene gel tabs, in the link a ways up it says - "Useful metabolic doses of d-Limonene range from 1,000 mg to 6,000 mg per day (1 – 6 grams per day)."

Most I ever took was 2000mg a day - since that did the job for GERD. I just take 1000mg a day for detox maintenance since I have a few not so good liver genes - prob do that for life.

Hi, I’m still taking it but I use Pectasol C brand. I take 3-5 capsules a day around either 4 pm or 9 pm. I definitely think it is mopping up toxins. I have been pretty symptom free of late.

I usually take 4 caps of the NOW brand MCP.

K07 - Hola. No, I stopped for now. I got a bunch of labs done which said my immune system was underperforming. Also, since I was taking 4 different shots, I had no way of knowing what the herx was from. I haven’t had Borrelia or Babesia show up in my scans for a long time, so the last shot I took was only one and it was for mold/Candida in October. I had a large reaction to the site and the usual neuro flare for 6 weeks, but since then, I’ve been pretty well.. The other reason I stopped LDI is my Lyme doctor is 4 hours away and I am trying to transition to a functional medicine doctor here. He doesn’t do them. Unfortunately, I’ve been unhappy with his approach. He goes off on these tangents, wanting me to do all this expensive stuff when I am really pretty much healed and just need some monitoring. He did take care of a Bartonella flare that I think is now under control.

I was concerned about my trip to Peru in the altitude and on the advice of a naturopath, started taking Host Defense Cordychi, which is a combo of Reishi and Cordyseps. Well, I felt amazing, hikes at 13k feet, no issues, etc. I have since had almost zero symptoms. I also was exposed to a super moldy hotel situation and did not react at all, so I definitely think the LDI desensitized my mold allergies.

Right now, all I am taking is a Claritin, Cordychi, my B vitamins, magnesium, 1 500 Japanese Knotweed and 1 Cats claw (every other day). I also have 1 cup of green tea a day.

I had foot surgery 12 days ago and have been laying around, not exercising and wondering if the toxins are going to build up, but fingers crossed, all is well.

Wow, that's great! Glad you are doing well under stressful conditions. I tried LDI last week again and had no response. I think I may switch over to targeting foods/chemicals instead of infections since I've developed quite a few reactions to foods. I'm still figuring things out but continuing down the mold road for now. Treating infections with Zhang herbs but unimpressed so far. I'm functional so I can't complain.

It takes a while to get the right dose. Good luck. Best way to get rid of stored mold toxins is excercise and sweat.

I just got some NOW brand citrus pectin. Does anyone know if modified citrus pectin actually works? I've heard it really has helped some people. My question is, will it help you even if you don't have a heavy metal problem? Also, the Pectosol brand actually has a heavy metal WARNING on it which is really weird.

None of the other brands have any type of warning on them. And the Swanson brand is so much cheaper... Is it actually the same thing? The Pectosol seems to be better to me but, I'm very suspicious that it is another expensive product that doesn't work.

I have to be honest, i didn’t like pectasol. Usually, mcp (now brand) helps me sleep. I still wake up a lot but not the severe insomnia. I didn’t feel pectasol worked as good. There’s been some research that mcp can also slow the growth of certain cancer cells. I think it’s a pretty good binder for not just metals but mold too. Probably does some stuff that we are not even aware of. My doc said someone spoke about it at ILADS this year.

What body system / issue are you trying to resolve? This and D-limonine have many capabilities across the whole body.

I can tell you D-limonine (close to MCP) stops gerd, cleans liver, helps sleep, helps digestive tracts, is anti fungle. Does many other things, which one cannot feel too.

My naturopath just said other people with Lyme had amazing results with modified citrus pectin. I only have some GI issues and some allergies. I'm just trying to get rid of the Lyme and bartonella especially.

I'm sure MCP is really good at binding toxins, but I don't know what kind of effect it has on Lyme itself.

Both of these possibly have some degree of anti-bacterial and anti- fungal properties, but niether have enough to kill any lyme BB bacteria to make a difference. It can help candida if its not systemic (in blood) yet.

What they do is slow down many possible symptoms created by lyme. Its the wide variety of what they do that makes both of these so great. That said, like all supplements - results vary.

I finally started taking the NOW citrus pectin, and I'm actually very surprised that I seem to be getting some kind of die-off/detox reaction from it. It definitely seems to work better than the Pectosol brand (which didn't seem to do anything).

Hopefully the other herbs I'm taking are killing off the bugs and the citrus pectin is helping me detox.

I read on facebook yesterday that mcp has negative charge and does not bind mold. I am not sure if that is correct. I need to further research it. But I did find this from sophia institute:

Modified Citrus Pectin: A fiber made from the peel of citrus fruits that has a high affinity for lead, but also other heavy metals. It also has some immune-modulating properties.

So it may modulate immune system. Maybe that is why I sleep better.

Wow! My doctor suggested I take it to bind mold, since I couldn't tolerate cholestyramine. I've been using Pectasol-C powder since May. I'm up to 5-10 grams a day. At times, it feels like it's pulling metals, but I can't say it's ever made me feel better. Nothing makes me feel better.
