Really, the gold standard for determining food allergies is an elimination diet. Of course, that's also the method that requires the most diligence and patience.
From what I've read, it's not uncommon to become sensitive/reactive/allergic to foods that we eat a lot. It happened to me, with shellfish. I think I was eating too much, too often.
It's also not uncommon to
seemingly not have a sensitivity/reaction/allergy to a food, to completely eliminate that food for weeks or months (as with an elimination diet), and try re-introducing the same food and then have a reaction.
