I know this gets asked by a lot of people but I'm gonna ask anyway. I had recently taken a break from abx for a couple of months to see how I do. During which time I would go up and down. Good days bad days. We did a test in Germany (can't remember name) and it come back positive so now I am on cefixime 2 days on 6 days off. I feel terrible today. I am getting worsening brain fog and tired. Had night sweats last night and weak tired today. Head feels like someone hit back with a bat. I felt close to normal 5 days ago then bam. Is this pretty normal. I have been in treatment for 20 months. Thanks

The roller coaster is normal.

Do you have coinfections? Night sweats, brain fog, and weird headaches are part of my Babesia

Have you treated Bartonella and Babesia?

If not I’d discuss this with your LL dr.

Cefixime is a Cephalosporin - 3rd generation

Ceftin is 2nd generation

Omnicef is 3rd generation.

Omnicef is what’s usually prescribed for Lyme - except if you’re Canadian - they don’t have it so we’re prescribed Ceftin instead

Bowdren - Dr. C. doesn't usually prescribe just one antibiotic...or is he going to add a second one next appt.?

Have you been treating for almost 2 years now (minus the break) ?



So did you ever treat Babesia pharmaceutically or herbally?

my appt went well...on Babesia meds. It was a quick trip but I managed okay.

Only one for now. Never said much about adding. I have been treating since July 2016. 3 month break in there. Honestly I was never really told what we are treating just what to take

I think he kind of gave up on me. That's the feeling I got. I know others who are really happy with him...and I was in the beginning too...but I didn't like it when he changed his appts to only 15 minutes...it's not enough time to go over symptoms, treatment options...etc.

Pulsing and taking breaks on antibiotics are a great idea, to let your body flush out the remaining antibiotics and toxins in your system.

However, just using cefixime to treat the multiple forms of borrelia, whether it be biofilms, round body forms, live spirochetes isn't going to do much.

Many new studies like the John Hopkins, UConn, Embers have shown how hard this bacteria is to erradicate because of biofilm colonies and persister cells, it took mitomycin c(chemotherapy) to full eradicate the multiple forms of borrelia in vitro at the lab.

You'll need 2 antibiotic combinations, maybe even 3, plus a biofilm buster to start making progress in treatment.

Or the biofilms will just keep coming back, along with the fatigue. And the persister cells that form the biofilms.

Thank you for the input. We did pulse multiple antibiotics at same time and I started to get better. Had some really good days. Then decided to go off to see how my immune system was working. Slowly got worse.

So you didn't have a month of symptom free (or almost symptom free ) days before stopping to test your immune system?

And how many good days per week were you having?

I'm trying to figure out why he did that....

I would go by a monthly schedule. Some times a week or so good then slowly down then back up. Most symptoms have resolved but neuro ones. Headaches dizzyness memory. Then weeks totally fine. Liver enzymes started to go up too.

Just spoke with dr.c and he said he thinks it's just lyme we are going after now that is why we are only using one antibiotics. It must be working because I feel worse now then in months. He also made something clear to me. It is not the amount of time you are in lyme treatment to gauge full remission. He said that because I have many times had days of 95-100% days that in most cases people who have those days will fully recover eventually. Just food for thought

Yes, definitely we don't gauge the success of treatment with amount of time but we do know that a short amount of time treating will not result in remission for chronic cases.

I am surprised that he is only prescribing one antibiotic - even if he's "just " going after Lyme.
When I was first treating, my combos were only Lyme: Amoxy plus biaxin, then Ceftin plus biaxin.

The different classes of antibiotics work differently on the bacteria...plus it helps prevent resistance to the abx.

I hope this does work for you Bowdren and you get to symptom free.
