Hi Mary, Lyme is not recognised here in Spain also so I understand how difficult it can be.

A weak positive is still a positive, and if the doxy makes you feel worse this could be a herx indicating that you do have lyme.

Are there no Lyme doctors in France you could go and see?

do you have a history of tick bites that you know of?

I just started antibiotics for lyme ( 2 years that I looked for a doctor who accepted to precribe me other things that plants, in France, chronic lyme is not recognised...it is a struggle to have a treatment...). I tried several plants treatment but in my case, this was not enough to make effect, just excited small beast...
I took doxy 200, and since it's difficult, all my symptoms exploded... Is it a sign that we have lyme ? how to be sure ?
for me : lyme weak positive in Germania (in France tests are nor reliable...)+cd57 low.
after this, an antibiotic by perfusion... I don't know which one...

Mary - Yes, after taking abx, the toxins created from the die-off of the bacteria flood our body...and cause inflammation...which results in an increase in symptoms and even new ones appear.

Are you taking 200 mg twice daily of doxy?

Are you doing much for detox?

I'm sorry to say this, but 200 mg daily of doxy isn't enough. For chronic lyme, you should be taking at least 2 different antibiotics, plus most LLMD's prescribe it as 200 mg twice per day.

Are you taking a binder? That is something you might want to incorporate into your detoxing.

Binders are a method of detox. When the body has toxins, they go through bile and then into the small intestines. If the toxins don't get stuck to something they will not be flushed out of the body but instead get reabsorbed. So a "binder" will stick to the toxins so they can pass through the digestive track and get eliminated.

Activated charcoal is a good binder. It is a tablet. You can take 1-2 at a time. Here in the united states we can get them in a pharmacy and even grocery stores as well as online. If you use it, do not take it within a few hours of any medication. Best not to do it everyday, because it can also collect and eliminate vital nutrients within your body. I take it at night and I drink a very large glass of water with it.

Hopefully others will comment on binders and how to use them. I know a very basic knowledge, but I know others here are very smart when it comes to binders.

Drink lots of water when you take the binder.

I found even one full glass of water wasn't enough (i would get constipated) - so I drink two glasses.
