DNA Connexions Results - Bartonella!

So I am super excited because the ONE thing I haven't treated yet is the one thing that came back and could explain all my remaining symptoms so maybe I am on the right track!

Bartonella Henselae is what came back positive.

Negative for everything else, babesia strains and borrellia.

I could possibly have these still obviously but that leads me to my next question..

I have been taking Mepron and Zithromax for a total of 3 months now. It's hard for me to just stop now when I am so close to reaching the minimum treatment length of babesia. Especially when I JUST refilled my $300 Mepron prescription.

However, I think maybe I should fill it because I am so sick of being sick and if this is all I am dealing with then starting now would be best.

Thoughts?

And also, for those of you that have treated bartonella with Rifampin. Is there terrible die off? How quickly did you personally see improvement?

Well, since you’re three months in, I would not stop Babs treatment now - since the minimum is 4-5 months.

If you stop short - you may wish you hadn’t down the road.

Rifampin was not hard to take re: side effects but you can certainly herx on it! It’s one medication that I was diligent about taking it prior to meals not with meals.

Be prepared for orange pee

Yeah that's strange!

I say we send it in again and see what comes back this time LOL. I wouldn't actually do that but it's interesting how we both got different results each time. Hopefully this test is as accurate as they say that it is.

Scott (betterhealthguy) has no lyme/bart/babs symptoms anymore yet they still show up on dna connexions. This makes me feel better!

Yes rifampin should be taken on an empty stomach for best absorption, so that works out to 1 hour before food or 2-3 hours afterwards. I can attest to the orange pee. lol

Re your question about timelines for improvement:

I've been on rifampin for 2.5 weeks and I do notice some improvement already. I actually noticed a quick lessening of some of my symptoms between 42-78 hours after starting it, then at the 1 week mark things ramped up a bit for a few days but subsided. So for me no real bad herxing, but I am doing daily detox. The only thing that made me herx like crazy was a-bart.

I always question whether the drugs are helping or it's just a coincidental, natural waxing and waning of symptoms, but overall there is a definite improvement in my symptoms. I'm starting to do things and at times not even notice symptoms, and when I do they just don't seem as bad. I actually walked the dog around the block today and did not have to stop once due to foot pain. It's been months since I could do that.

Dr H. talks about asymptomatic babesia in one of his patients. She wasn't getting well...so he treated her for Babesia and she got up out of her wheelchair.

I think I am going to take your advice Rikky, and take artemisinin and cryptolepis throughout bart treatment. I'll do the art 3 days on 11 days off and CSA daily. Hopefully that helps me keep it in check and also kill it if it's there while also treating bartonella.
