Babesia causes petechiae - small red spots caused by bleeding into the skin.
There are also possibly similar looking cherry angiomas that are harmless formations of tiny blood vessels that are normal with age. They too are about the size of a head of a pin.
"Normally, when you press your skin it becomes pale, and when you let go, the redness or color returns. When there is bleeding into the skin, the skin will not become pale when you press down on it"
Based on this I would guess yours would be the latter, but if you are having classic symptoms of babesia I would make sure your doc sees them. I'm not sure if other co-infections can cause them.
Good luck.
Thank you so much! I was wondering what would cause it. Because it seems like they are starting to pop up in different places. (I've had them for a good min, but I always thought that it was normal?)
Yes, when I press down on one, and then lift my finger, the redness is gone, but quickly returns. It's slowly has been getting bigger.
I'm hoping I can get some positivity from my doctor soon!
