Hello,
I got diagnosed one mont ago and I have been using my antibiotics just over 3 weeks. I have had my lyme symtoms just over 6 months. It took 6 months for me(!) to diagnose it because of dismissive doctors barriers. Anyway I guess majority of us experience this unpleasant thing. It is in your head period...

I live in the North of Spain by the way and here is endemic. Of course I learn that long after this unfortunate trekking in the country side in the last September. Anyway, even though I have been using my antibiotics I am only %50 hopefull about it will work. My doctor told me I am not a chronic lyme patient, I guess I am not and early lyme patient either, it has been 7 months. What is your opinion about it?


Also , despite using them very regularly I didnot get any releaf from my symptoms. Which is basicly the joint ache on my right knee and muscle aches. It gets worse when I walkand it makes me think '' Did it cause a vasculitis?'' Is there anybody here has a similar experience.


Bye the way it already started to feel better that I talk about my lyme and I won't be judged. Thank you guys, I appreciate it for any response.

you are considered chronic if you've had symptoms for 6 months. you may of had the infection longer and its just coming out.

what drugs are you taking?

your symptoms sound like lyme but it could be other bugs.

I am using doxiclat and zitromax. The treatment will last 2 months. Apart from them I used some essential supplaments such as magnesium, stevia, B12 , vitamin D ect. Also I live on a ketogenic diet.

Hi Hypatiac - welcome!


As Rikky said - you'd be considered chronic, and lyme rarely travels alone. So, it's likely you have (in addition to lyme) Bartonella, and/or Babesia...

So, you will most likely be needing more than just doxycycline and azithromycin.
Also, it can take longer than a few weeks to see improvements.

Is it your 'regular' Dr. prescribing the antibiotics?...or have you found someone who is Lyme literate?

You do need a lyme literate Dr. to prescribe the antibiotics that are needed.

I may have some options for you...you can email me and I'll see what i have listed.

Yeah she is a LLMD, and only prescribed two. I will take another appointment at the end of my two months. I do not know what to expect. i am still trying to keep positive attitude though.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant that you will most likely need to take other abx besides those two...not necessarily adding to those two.

If you have bartonella, Bactrim is sometimes effective, but often Rifampin or Rifabutin is needed. (plus a second antibiotic)

If you have Babesia, then you'll need an anti-parasitic med...Mepron is one of the more commonly prescribed medications. (plus an antibiotic to go with the Mepron)

Also wanted to mention it can take awhile to see improvements...many weeks to months sometimes.

So, dig in....it could take some time.


Also, after starting antibiotics, you can experience a herxheimer - which is an increase in symptoms and sometimes new symptoms appear due to your body being overloaded with the die-off of the bacteria. The toxins creates inflammation.
