Every few weeks I get extremely itchy on my legs, thighs, upper thigh near buttocks, or stomach and then this rash appears after twenty minutes, stops itching, and the next day it appears like little purple specs. Any ideas? It drives me crazy and I can't pinpoint a food. I haven't tracked as well as I should because my primary brushed it off a few years ago. I think it will happen a few times in a month and then go away for a month or two.

All rashes are a histamine reaction. Several things you can do:

1. Histamine Scavenger has been helping people -I have not tried it, but have ordered it
2. Nettle tea
3. Cool packs on the rashes
4. Quercetin
5. Drink lots of water
6. Oatmeal baths are soothing

I don't like repressing histamine with OTC meds, better to help your body flush them out.

It could be representative of one of the infections - could it be petechiae (Babesia)?

I have a lot of symptoms of babesia but serology was negative. I do have Bartonella with positive serology and current stretch marks rashes also. Today the above rash it looks like petechiae.

They are also all over my abdomen.

Maybe it's part of the Bart and it just manifests different on my lower body because I have no stretch marks on my legs at all.

I do understand that rashes are a histamine reaction and I also understand that in the case of bacterial and other infections it's a histamine response from mast cell activation. It's not related to food and I haven't changed laundry soap, other products, don't wear makeup or even leave my house much, so I can't figure out anything else it could be other than part of this Lyme mess. I'll show my ID this week also. Just looking for clues.

I had that exact same rash/itching on my inner thighs 3 inches above my knee back in February. I really believe it’s bartonella. In Dec/Jan I had to back off treatment due to elevated liver enzymes. When I resumed the full protocol of biaxin, Bactrim DS & mino this rash appeared a week later. It itched worse at night & I would take benedryl & put an ice pack on it to calm it down so I could sleep. The itching stopped after 3 says & then the ‘rash’ cleared. To me the rash looks more like tiny bruises under the skin. Very weird. It hasn’t returned.

Don't put any stock into a negative babesia test result.

Dr. J treats all three B's and likes to get rid of Babs first.

So, just keep in mind, you could have Babesia PLUS Bartonella.
