Hey guys! Hoping to provide some general information about my wife, hopefully she'll be able to help with specifics if you need more details about symptoms and dates.

Basically, my wife comes from a family that just found out they're affected by Lyme disease. Her mom, two sisters, a brother, and her went up to Walker, MN for some preliminary testing and they found out that 5/8 people in the family have the disease...my wife being one of them.

When we found this out, I was pretty concerned. I did all of the research online that I possibly could just to come to the heartbreaking conclusion that there's a lot of misinformation online and within the medical community about Lyme disease. Mayo didn't treat the mother in law very well so they all ended up at this private practitioner's office up in Walker, MN.

Anyway, the whole family just went up there again for a more thorough round of testing and treatment. However, my wife caught strep throat last minute and wasn't able to go since she'd started taking antibiotics.

As the title says, I've just a got a few concerns and am worried about how to go forward with the situation.

Reading online, this guy up in MN has a lot of raving reviews, it looks like he's helped a lot of people. That said, I haven't seen him on your online registry/LymeDoc. It looks like he's primarily a Chiropractor that's helped people with Lyme over the years. Might there be a reason why? I'll happily say his name if it's allowed, but he's not too hard to find.

He does a lot of testing with electromagnetics and 'frequency testing' throughout the body...is this standard practice with Lyme diagnosis/treatment? the MIL swears by him but as you can probably imagine, this looks a little strange from the outside looking in.

I'll try to answer any questions I can if I've left something out. Thanks for all of the help in advance. We could really use a community that's knowledgeable when so many people aren't.

One,I feel for you- my wife has Lyme. I can't say that it will be an easy journey for either of you, although hopefully she won't have as bad as a case as others.

I do think frequencies can be helpful - some don't. Some chiropractors have dedicated their lives to Lyme, I wouldn't let that be a firm no just because of that. Ask a lot of questions- see if he and his methods pass the common sense test. If he can't explain things than that may be a bad sign.

These are just my opinions but any good Lyme doc should check off the following buckets
= THOROUGH testing to determine just what she is up against (Lyme, confections, parasites)
= a method/plan/protocol for killing the bugs
= supportive nutrition/supplementation for what she is deficient in (what the organisms are stealing - for example magnesium)
= A good DETOX plan - or in other words > if you are going to help your body kill bacteria you better help your body dispose of said bacteria.

If he has those bases covered great!

I would be cautious about this doctor. While it could all be legit, it does sound a little weird to me.

Do all these family members, including your wife, have clear Lyme symptoms?

I personally would not go along for this ride without lab testing to confirm what this doctor is telling you. That includes a Lyme Western blot. If it's CDC positive, you need no further testing. If it isn't CDC positive but there are positive bands (depending on which ones) along with symptoms, that would confirm.

I don’t think it’s the norm for most LLMD’s to use energy testing for determining how to treat the patients. That is not what I would want personally.

Well I think as with any disease that's chronic or misunderstood like Lyme, you're going to have snake oil salesmen coming out of the woodwork.

One small town I lived in the past - there was a guy who sold "cancer cures" - colored powder packets for $20. People bought them too.

Not calling your doctor a snake oil salesman - I don't know him and have no background or ability to judge the efficacy of "electromagnetics and 'frequency testing'". However, if something sounds not particularly credible, has no peer reviewed published studies, I would personally be extremely wary spending money on such a thing.

the infectious disese doctor refused to treat for the bs 30days with a positive test ! and i was most helped by a "charlotene d.o.m with wack woo woo devices...i believe in kinesiology and microscopy i believe in pub med and ayuasca . with lyme you need light in the dark ...get ready its pricey and crazy and what is up is down what side to side is inside out ...most people sick people have 6++ pathogens in their system that are destructive not just borrelia...read all of lymenet if you want just a tiny glimpse...believe her! know your in together because it is sexually transmitted ! you may not present symptoms or admit to them while your immune system is intact .please support her in any and all endeavors to regain some life back ...i see 2 chiros ,1 acupuncturist, installed a cancer port- do ivs every week and sting myself with bees just to exist .... this life or death stuff imo

Did she have a strep test to confirm that infection? Tick-borne diseases can cause sore throat.

Lyme should be diagnosed by symptoms, with lab testing used only as a confirmation. I wouldn't rely on any testing, let alone homeopathic varieties; if the doctor is making a diagnosis in that fashion, I'd look for a second opinion.

Here is a breakdown of the controversy: Lyme testing (the Western Blot) can be interpreted conservatively or liberally, and continuing symptoms after antibiotic treatment can be interpreted as a persistent infection or not. The medical community has become more divided by ego than evidence, there's good reason to believe that Lyme is difficult to diagnose and treat despite what the CDC and other authorities claim. Don't blindly trust your health to either side of the debate, you have to inform yourself and decide what option is best.

I'm in MN too and have heard some good things about that Dr, but there are others that are more frequently seen. Feel free to email me if you want names of others that I know are more highly recommended
