Lyme Disease Pregnancies

Hello All,

My girlfriend has had Lyme Disease and Babesia for several years now. She is allergic to antibiotics, and have only been able to undergo herbal supplements for treatment. Lyme Disease and Babesia symptoms have been mild, and have certainly improved over the years for her.

We recently found out that she is pregnant. Due to the pregnancy, she has now stopped taking herbs, and is currently going untreated.

I have been trying to do some research on all of this, but I am fairly new to the disease myself, having never contracted Lyme Disease. I am concerned about the future and what is in store for us. Its seems like there are several different stories where Lyme Disease does affect the pregnancy, doesn't affect the pregnancy, has detrimental effects, has nearly no effects if being treated during the pregnancy, the list goes on and on.

I am just wondering.... what are we in for?

Yes, as far as I have known, she is allergic to all antibiotics. And yes the herbals are contraindicated.

Thank you for the link! I will certainly read up on it. I agree, most of the readings have been scary.

EDIT: One thing that I find that I read a lot is about women who are pregnant that contract Lyme Disease. I almost get the feeling that it is rare for women with Lyme Disease (and Babesia) to become pregnant, due to lack of information found on such a specific case-type setting.
