Thanks everyone for the advice! I had the exam last week. I did not remember to be completely fasted although it had been several hours. I did try stopping treatment 4 or 5 days ahead also.
The results were....no spirochetes noticed, but some probable of what he called "chronic Lyme" or similar - I think the cysts. A few other minor items also. It certainly wasn't chock full of baddies, but there were noticeable suspicious things. I was too travel-worn to ask anything about
crushing, etc. RBCs.
Of course, afterward I poked around the web about
it some more. Unsurprisingly, Wikipedia has some unflattering things to say about
DFM for this kind of live-blood analysis... some of which may have some validity (like, I was surprised to see a box of generic glass slides sitting
open the counter, with no cleaning or prep work done to them before applying my blood). OTOH at least one of the links I followed (to a Medicare paper) didn't seem to actually support the specific sentence it was cited for.
And, just because some people misuse or abuse a tool, doesn't mean it doesn't have some validity. And of course, as most of us here probably know by now, "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence".
Overall, I'm glad I went, although I wish it had been cheaper ($300 for my entire initial consult here, including the dfm). And this is now on my list for "things I'd try to get studied, improve and promote if I were a multimillionaire"
.
